Asymmetries
Void of Light

Glasgow-based Post-Metal collective VOID OF LIGHT are set to release their debut full-length album "Asymmetries" on April 03, 2026 via Ripcord Records. Across five monumental compositions, "Asymmetries" captures the full dynamic scope of the band's vision, balancing crushing density with emotional depth, and marking a decisive step forward in their evolution. They're a six-piece Post-Metal force built on contrast. Brutal yet deeply atmospheric, their sound fuses crushing riffs and thunderous drumming with melodic leads and carefully layered arrangements. Rooted in Post-Metal's foundations but shaped by a wider spectrum of influences, the band carve out a sound that feels vast and aggressive, yet intricate and finely balanced through a keen sense of dynamics. On "Asymmetries," they turn inward. Exploring themes of perspective, reflection, and internal conflict, the album charts a journey of reconciliation between the masks of the past and the truths of the present.
"The Passing Hours" is the first track. It eases in slowly, but when the main riff drops, it's a beast. Harsh vocals come with it, and together they paint a bleak scene of life. It stretches out for what seems like days, even weeks, fueled by meaty bass notes. "Silver Mask" drops a heavy riff from the sky that slams into the earth with deadly force, and harsh vocals bring another hopeless outlook on life. You can hear some Doom influences in the music as well, and even the clean vocals bring that feeling. Rounding the halfway mark, the aggression drops in favor of emotional depth, but of course it returns again. "Ends" is faster moving and still has that sense of regret in the vocals. Rage also enters into the equation, and perhaps frustration…they are often hard to distinguish. "Still the Night Skies" is a bass led song, and those notes are thick. The rest of the song is tense and stays hidden in the shadows.
"Mirrorings" is the final track, and it come angry out of the gate. The shadows are gone now, and the song is in full view. What's left however is a shell of what you used to be, and they just strip you down and leave you exposed. This was indeed an emotionally heavy album, and that might be its best feature. There wasn't a lot of diversity in their music though. Instead, they seem to want to drive the riffs right through your living room walls and straight down your throat.
