Founded in 2020, White Skies released their debut album "Black Tide" in 2022 which made the band an instant favourite amongst Melodic Rock fans. With a wealth of experience, Singer Mick White has been a fixture on the British Melodic Hard Rock scene since the mid-1980s. In addition to his involvement with the legendary Samson, with whom he supported Iron Maiden on their "Somewhere in Time" tour. Guitarist Ray Callcut has been gracing the albums of cult AOR band YA YA with his playing since 1983. Keyboardist Pete Laikin comes from the melodic rock bands Dante Fox and Double Cross. Drummer Daz Lamberton is a studio ace on the British Music Scene who has worked with the British Melodic Kings Ten, among others. The band is completed by bassist Rob Naylor from the NWOBHM band Sam Thunder.White Skies see themselves as a band and not a project and are here to stay!

I first heard White Skies when I saw them in Manchester UK at The Tower Of Fire Festival 2024, I instantly  liked what I heard, so when the chance to review the new album came up I was hoping for great things."If This Is It (Get Ready)" is a solid start, from the beginning the guitar work and the riffs are solid and have a great groove, the chorus is a catchy sing a long theme, sticks in your head kind of chorus, the vocals are solid strong & very well delivered. The vast experience of the members is apparent with the well delivered tracks on this album."88 Crash" is a solid rocker, with Mick White leading the charge with a solid vocal to another guitar driven ear worm number, "Money To Burn" has a solid rhythm section from the off, more solid riffing with a stellar solo, the keys are bright and prominent being high up in the mix."Can't Make This Alone" is the typical ballad with the piano touches,it builds to the strong chorus which ignites the song, more great vocals, well delivered musically,a great ballad style number. The title track with the rain & thunder effects start,is a great Melodic track, with some nice harmonies, there's nothing about the track not to to like.

The reminiscing "Those Days" is the standout track for me (which I found to be a difficult decision!),but the relatable lyrics, the solid rockin melody and solid chorus sold it for me! Another great track is the stripped back acoustic led "One Life", which tugs on the heart strings, its a rollercoaster emotional ride,"Control" is another emotional track, which has some superb piano led touches, with some great guitar work by Ray Callcut."I Kissed The Rain" brings the album to a conclusion with a great anthemic chorus,a solid track to end this album with momentum. Another fantastic album from White Skies, who are a great British Melodic Rock outfit, with a wealth of experience, which shines through gloriously  on "Shouting At The Hurricane",there are some absolute cracking tracks on this album, with some great vocals, great musicianship which bonded together creates a fantastic album which I enjoyed from start to finish.I highly recommend this album, this is one for my cd collection that will get a lot of spins! "Shouting At The Hurricane" is out on March 27th on Metalapolis Records.
