Severed Heart City
Greywind

Greywind are a brother and sister duo from Killarney, Ireland. They are an Emo duo who have already experienced a lot in their musical journey which have included glowing praise for their Leeds and Reading Festival sets and also Download with also glowing praise from Radio DJ Zane Lowe (BBC Music & Apple Music). Then when the pandemic hit Steph and Paul struggled emotionally and mentally, which as a result they vowed not to put out any new music until they had the rights back to their debut album "Afterthoughts" back.In 2023 there was a surge in popularity, which saw tracks from the debut reach millions of new fans. Now with a new record label FLG Records, Greywind release their sophomore album "Severed Heart City"
A modern atmospheric introduction into "Acid Rain",which full of keys & synths opens this album, this ignites into a modern emo style number, with lyrics which touch on bad relationships & situations, the spoken verses lead into a strong anthemic chorus,a very strong track also an great introduction to the band & this record."I.K.A.M.F. " is a mid paced punchy pop/rock number, which gives me Avril Lavigne vibes. One thing i think need to mention is Steph O' Sullivan's vocals, they are vivid, strong and controlled, her tone suits the melodies of the tracks superbly ,"Waterfall" is a perfect example, for me one of the strongest tracks on the album which deserves massive airplay."Swerve" is another strong offering, the bass line is very prominent which gives the track a solid backbone in the mix,"Make Believe (Love Me)" is a short but fast paced punk/pop rocker which has that sweet spot, which gets the head and foot going.Another beautiful vocal is delivered in the acoustic lead "Moon" a more chilled airy track that builds as the track progresses, vocally its something else,i just love the tone and control that Steph O' Sullivan uses to deliver the song.
"Lets See If You Can Float" has a distorted vocal,a track with a heavier feel, more heavier riffs with a vocal which gives off a hurt and vibe of anger."Scarecrow" has a gorgeous tender vocal, which are full of emotion,a beautiful track. With "Cope In The Coma" the album finishes with a another strong, punchy Emo driven track which is earworm stuff. Greywind delivers a very solid offering,"Severed Heart City" is a fantastic album, which I enjoyed from beginning to end.Vocally and musically it delivers a feast of Pop/Punk Emo numbers that are catchy, punchy also very lyrically relatable.Excellent stuff, this duo have a bright future,a highly recommended release which will no doubt add to their fan base.Definitely a must listen recommendation from me!
