Dark Heart were formed during the early eighties, releasing the debut album ''Shadows of the Night'' on the Roadrunner label in 1984. After a number of successful live shows, the fast approaching end of NWOBHM era meant the band decided to go their separate ways, never quite fulfilling their potential or producing a follow up second album. Over the years the band has developed a cult following picking up new fans on the way.In 2024 after been asked to release a new album Dark Heart returned with the album "Out Of The Shadows" with Alan Clark the only original band member, brought in Nick Catterick who Alan had worked with on various projects over the years, the duo had developed a special understanding when writing & working together,so it was a no brainer to get Nick on board."Evolution" is the first album release for Pride & Joy Music, which was produced by Pete Newdeck (Vega) and mastered by Harry Hess(Harem Scarem).

A strong melodic start to this album with the opener "Light The Flame" which is the lead single,a strong melody, vocal  and rhythm which along with the punchy chorus is a great introduction to this album."Evolution" is an album which also has flashes of classic rock "Cold Winter" is a solid classic rock number which has a bluesy feel of the seventies and eighties shades of bands such as Whitesnake,Blue Murder and Dokken, strong vocals matched with strong riffage and an equally matched rhythm section."Hands Of Fate" is a keys led melodic rock track which motors along with chugging riffs, the chorus kicks the track up a gear,"Spread Your Wings" is another Melodic/AOR number with some blazing guitar runs, atmospheric keys adding sprinkles of Melodic magic onto another strong track on this album."Ride The Highway" is a pacey rocker, complete energy which packs one almighty punch, another solid Hard Rock number.

The keys work on "Life To Crucify" is superb from the first note, the bassline very deep and prominent gives the track depth, very well produced and mixed, again another strong vocal & big chorus, with an edgy guitar solo."Eyes Of Light" is also another track which shines with a classy vocal and sophisticated melodic melodies."Mortality" is another big track with orchestral input, impressive vocals which gain power in the choruses. The album concludes with "Burned" which is a great track to end the album in style, another catchy mid paced melodic rocker which packs a punch. "Evolution" is an album full of great guitar and keyboard work which has a strong presence throughout the album, which has an equally strong rhythm courtesy of Pete Newdeck (Vega) and Josh "Tabbie" Williams (Midnite City) section to match.Alan Clark's vocals ignite the tracks which includes some hidden gems and surprises.Along with the drums on this album, Pete Newdeck works his magic with some excellent production which elevates the tracks on "Evolution".A very strong album which will be welcomed with open arms by the Melodic Rock community.A great listen which i urge people to not pass up on."Evolution" is out via Pride & Joy Music 27th March.
