Professori (Season two)
Aktor

The new album by heavy metal band Aktor, entitled Professori (season two) is a trip of an album for sure. It was released on November 28th, 2025. It's an album that combines that sounds of psychedelic rock along with 1970s prog. It's also a concept album, telling the story of a Nordic detective, which I found interesting. It's very 1970s and 198s0s retro fitted, complete with danceable beats, entrancing synths, rhythmic drumming and very intricately laid guitars. What I enjoyed most about the album is how much of an old style it has. There aren't a ton of bands nowadays that do this style of music anymore, and so it was a breath of fresh air for me. Some standout songs on this record include Nemesis, which features very rhythmic instrumentation. It's a song you could dance to, something that crossed boundaries; influences of prog, disco, and 1980s pop are laden throughout this entire track. The guitar solo is very subtle and flows with the beat effortlessly, and the synths add a very retro feel to the album. The opening track He Never Came Home is another standout track for me. It's very much so s storytelling song. It begins with some interesting guitar arrangements before the vocals of Chris "The Professor" Black comes in talking about how "she opens her eyes and he's not there" meaning that the detective character that the album revolves around as gone. I love how subtle the synths are layered in the background of the song, melding perfectly with the softness of the guitars and the disco beat of the drums which add nice layering to the song.
In Just One Hand the bass guitar begins the track. A light strumming while the synths and drums layer beneath it creating yet another danceable beat. The song is the second track and a continuation of the opening track. The hero of the story is still missing and nobody knows where he could've gone off too. I love the voice of Chris on this track too; he has a very old school metal sound about him, which I appreciate. I love how the guitar solo and synth intertwine with one another. Helicopter very much so reminds me of a 1970s combined with a 1970s progressive rock feel. It reminds me a bit of Rush, which isn't a bad thing at all. I love how the synths work with the guitars and drums with this song, and I enjoy how the entire album is a continuing story. Concept albums are always interesting to me, and this one is no exception. It has a very triumphant feel to it as well, Chris's vocals soaring over the instrumentation very excitedly.
Overall, Professori (Season two) by Aktor is a very good, interesting album that has a lot of elements in it that I enjoyed. A continuing story, intricate guitar work, and a danceable, disco like beat from the combination of drumming and synths, this album is sure to please people who enjoy disco, progressive rock, and 1980s retro pop.
