Danger Zone - Undying album cover

This is the review for the second album by DANGER ZONE from Italy, a bunch of guys with a complex story line, which I will teach you. First, don't let the cover-art fool you, this is not another Gothic / Dark Metal album but an old fashioned well-made album of Melodic Metal with a strong focus on the Guitars and an even bigger emphasis on the perfect powerful & rocky voice of Mr. Giacomo Gigantelli, the real asset of the band since the early 80s. Indeed this band had already a career that spread over almost 30 years with many twists and turns after having lived the American Dream in Los Angeles, in the late 80s, and having worked with LOUDNESS producers like Stefan Galfas (DR. SIN / CHINA / STRYPER) or Jody Gray (EZO / STEELE), and even having recorded an album called "Line Of Fire", which will remain unreleased just before being victim of the awful Seattle stinky flannel shirt Grunge flood shit in 1992. While the years went by, this forgotten recording reached an almost cult status in some underground fanzines and webzines and finally the dedicated fans of the band that continuously demanded its release were fulfilled in 2011.

The album "Line Of Fire" in the end, saw the light of day properly, carefully reworked from the original tapes by Roberto Priori (in his own Pri-studio). The band also confirmed that they are reunited for good, and additional interesting news were announced that DANGER ZONE was working on new material. Now, one year later, the brand new album is here and it sounds pretty well. In fact much better than "Line Of Fire" and obviously more contemporary and heavier, while maintaining that 80s feel, fierce & strongly. In between, Roberto Priori became a very famous teacher & session guitar player that collaborates with almost everyone in Italy, and notably with the awesome singer Michele Luppi (ex-VISION DIVINE / ex-THAUROROD /KILLING TOUCH /SECRET SPHERE) on his  both successful albums: LOS ANGELES "Neverland" & HEAVEN "strive" in 2005. Also Luppi was guesting in his first solo album "Avoid Yawed Flight" that was also a real delight for Guitar fans. He found some recognition in 2007 with the band MORPHOLOGY a project based on pop-songs covered in an Alternative Rock direction. He also became producer for PERFECT VIEW and even mixing engineer for the good project "Hanging Rock", led by guitar hero Tommy Vitaly early this year.

The seed for the band return was once planted when both Priori and Gigantelli have formed the 80s tribute band SUNSETSKOOL and now, it's for real: the band is back and ready to show the world that the wait was worth, they also reunited with their old friend Jody Gray as co-producer, along with ex-ANGEL vocalist Frank Di Minno as Engineer and backing vocalist. This working team is a perfect oiled machine, the production is enormous, clear & energetic; the mix is clever, giving all the instruments their right place with a bright light to the meaty fat guitar tone that plays some of the more interesting prime & genuine riffs.

The rough voice of Giacomo Gigantelli fits perfectly tracks like "Undying" or "Goin' On" in a very Professional way. After F.E.A.S.T., the German label Avenue Of Allies found indeed another example of an European band that play in the old American tradition. This time no tricks, no gimmicks just great songs, no fillers. Without reinvented the wheel, DANGER ZONE bring a very sharp album, that is not only for nostalgia but it's the best way to play Headbangin' Melodic Metal with balls and no cheese.
