Life is just a phase
Seven Blood

Life is Just a Phase is the debut LP of German metal band Seven Blood, and it's an album that blew me away personally. This album has it all; soaring, catchy choruses that make you wanna sing, meaningful, deep, and relatable lyrics, as well as heavy instrumentation. The album is heavy but it never gets too heavy. It's the right balance between pop and metal. The vocals of Azaria are absolutely terrific here. Her voice soars to the stratosphere above the extremely excellent instrumentation which runs through this entire record. You can feel the energy exuding from this band as they perform very tightly knit songs.
My favorite track on the song is probably Cold Eyes. It begins with a couple of light strums from a guitar before the vocals kick in. The drumming adds another layer of dimension to this track with the vocals layered above the instrumentation. But everything melds together perfectly to create an excellent song. I enjoyed the screamed vocals which are hidden behind the clean singing and the instruments but it's still there.
Monsters is an0ther stand out track. It begins with a loud, screaming riff before slowing down when the vocals kick on. Her voice is so melodic and dances along the melody and the beat of the song extremely well. The chorus of this song is probably the catchiest in the entire album. When she says, "I can't stop the pain by myself" she's pleading for help for whatever she's going through. The Monsters being alluded to in the song title I'd say is depression and anxiety based on the lyrical content of the track itself. Rage and anger fills the last part of the song. Synths begin Not Your Misery with drums in the background and some riffs as well. The synths add a haunting element to the track that some of the rest of the songs lack. I just think her voice works extremely well for this band and this style of music. When she says, "Misery" a heavy breakdown kicks on and I could feel the energy and the pain and anger in just that one word. And again it's another relatable song about mental health and about anxiety, and I appreciate that as well.
Songs like Fall from the sky, Strangers, and As we Bleed are also standouts, songs that are about anxiety, depression, and mental health which is what I gather the entire theme of the album is. I'm gonna say overall Seven Blood is a great band, and this debut album is absolutely terrific. The vocals are melodic, the riffs are blistering, the drums and loud and pummeling, and you can feel the emotions emanating from the music; you can feel the rage, frustration, and sadness coming from the vocalist like an aura. This band is going to do big things in the music scene for sure.
