Rat City Rockers
Casket Rats

Casket Rats are a a gritty,no nonsense, analog focused Hard Rock. The band deliver raw, street fighting, unapologetic rock n' roll which is compared to bands such as Thin Lizzy,Motorhead and Rose Tattoo, which features a Punk/Metal history with band members Brendan O' Hare (Wrecking Crew,Death Ray Vision) and Keith Bennett who is also a former member of Wrecking Crew. With the ethos "Music by outcasts for Outcasts!" Casket Rats focus on delivering a pretty but not perfect raw sound, rejecting algorithms for a classic vinyl feel. "Rat City Rockers" is the band's debut album, which is the follow up to the self titled EP which was released in 2022.
This is an album what does what it says on the as you would say."Blood On The Water" kicks of this album with an on point raw old school sound, the chugging riffs, the strong presence of the drums and the bass, great raw vocals with energy with a great guitar solo,a very impressive opener. The raw energy carries on with "Whiskey Queen" which has fast tempo,a deep bass line, with its sleazy melody with punk traits gives me that Sunset Strip vibe which invaded LA in the 80's.The deep bass line i mentioned leads in the solid hard rocker track "Stealin'",which is followed by "All She Wrote" which flows along nicely full of gritty riffs, another solid Rock N' Roll track."Au Revoir" has a more harder hitting groove which is matched with a strong chorus, with a true Classic Rock sound.Full of swagger ,attitude and the heavier sound of "What's The Problem" delivers a catchy unapologetic rock number which demands to be played loud."Watch It Burn" with the guitar duel lead in, is a more subdued & moody start, with acoustic guitar touches its as near to a ballad you will get,the guitar solos give a bluesy feel, towards the end the tempo steps up a gear to bring this 6 minute plus track to a conclusion.
Track nine "Bad Times" ends this album in Classic Rock style with crunchy snappy riffing, strong vocally.but the last two tracks just step of the gas a little bit for me in comparison to the rest of the record. "Rat City Rockers" is an appealing album, and after listening to it a few times I loved most of the tracks, towards the end although good tracks for me the energy dipped slightly. I loved the old school recording process & production which made the tracks raw, full of energy and a FU attitude! I can imagine Casket Rats playing these tracks in a sweaty rock club where the beers are flowing, everyone is going nuts and a good time is had by all.A solid debut album which Casket Rats can build on.
