Epoch of Eternal Silence
Nirrti

"In the void, nothing reflects—only the Self, naked and nameless. The marrow of belief has decayed in silence. Time cracks under the weight of dreams that were never ours. And in the ashes of the final thought… silence is born. Silence you can hear only in trance. Silence without witnesses. Silence that is me." This ritual has no witnesses. This music has no meaning. This path has no return. This epoch is your last – knowledge through death. And from it, you shall emerge without a name, without a word, without light."
The album has seven songs, and "Nebuchanedzzar" is first. It has a dissonant and nearly chaotic entrance, with about as many frightening elements as possible, especially in the lead guitars. It eventually settles, ducking into the shadows. The title track is another dissonant affair, and rather than tell the tale with a wall of sound, Ondřej uses atmosphere, mood, and other harrowing sounds, like clean vocals that seem to dissipate in the wind moments after they are spoken. "Nocturnal Asteticism" uses and odd meter and more moody sounds within the firm structure of Black Metal. One thing that the artist does well is create these snippets of terror that if you keep your eyes open, you can see.
"Thrones of Smoke" eases out of the gate like a mist that doesn't yet take form. When it does, you draw back in aghast at the sight. The beast is twisted, gnarled, muscular, and looks like the perfect killing machine. The restraint he shows here is noteworthy…never letting the beast to be viewed entirely. "The Dead Shrine" is a vortex of various sounds that are dark and contentious at their core. It's the kind of sound that you are chasing trying to catch it, but it always stays a step ahead of you. "Dreams Carved Into Bone" is more straightforward, but not like a polished walking stick…more like a twisted staff of wood. At times, it marches with the singular purpose of death.
"Enter the Void" is the final offering, and according to the plethora of vocal screams, there are torture rituals being performed. It stays in this realm until the last minute, when it races for the finish line, then ducks back into the darkness before the final ribbon is reached. Overall, the album danced with your sense of fear that was heightened by all of the dark magic on the album, and toyed with your sense of curiosity to the point that you no longer wanted to overturn rocks and find out what came next. Once it ensnared you, it would not let you escape, and it seemed like a lifetime of pain and torture was poured into seven songs.
