Usually I'm not a big fan of instrumental albums or Progressive Metal albums, Alberto Rigoni's "Three Wise Monkeys" is a more of an hybrid album with half of the songs on the album are more vocal based.

Alberto Rigoni is a bass player and composer. The album itself incorporates a list of superior artist in their own fields. The list is very long and does show the magnitude influence of Rigoni's to be able to gather all these personas to help as it's not an easy task. For your amusement some of the Artist helping Rigoni on this album are Göran  Edman (ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JOHN NORUM,  BRAZEN ABBOT),  Jonas  Erixon  (ALICATE),  Kevin Moore  (ex-DREAM THEATER, OSI, CHROMA KEY) and Mark Cross (OUTLOUD, ex-HELLOWEEN, FIREWIND), and these are only a few of the list, respect for that.

The emphasis on the keyboards is much evident and the players do deliver. It seems that each song has a unique keyboard style that comes alongside the players that play in the corresponding songs. According to the album's info there are at least 3 different keyboard players, each of them is a known artist, however I was mostly impressed by "Blackened Tornado" where Federico Solazzo played.

I was surprised by the composing ability of Rigoni, the album does stand by itself, I don't think that it's only Rigoni's doing as it seems that the better way to compose a hybrid album like that successfully is to surround yourself with amazing artists that will allow you to be more creative .

The best songs in the album are the ones that aren't instrumental like "Blackened Tornado" with amazing vocals by Jonas  Erixon and "Free Falling" again great job by Erixon. The drumming by Paco Barillà on "Believe" is amazing, whom I am not familiar with his drum work but sure I will try and find some more examples made by him.

It seems that the album is stuck in the in between. Sure that Rigoni can play and all the musician surrounding him can play as well but I didn't understand the instrumental segment of the album.
