Past the Veil of the Observable Universe

Teach Them To Weep

Although at its core, it’s Black Metal, the album is really a very eclectic and varied mix of sounds, and you need to go into the listen with an open mind. Some music just isn’t linear, and this out of the box album doesn’t follow any rules. I found Sean’s compositions to be intriguing and unorthodox, and anyone looking to explore will find some real gems here.

"The writing and recording process for this began in April 2025. Almost all the lyrics are written as short stories. Some of the themes include psychedelics, the occult, and interstellar travel. My favorite part of any music project that I've ever done or been a part of is writing the lyrics, but the meanings often get lost in translation. Below, I've included short breakdowns to what each song is about. FFO: conspiracies, The Magic School Bus, GUNS 'N ROSES the color teal, forgiving people who aren't good at genre classification or tagging Nothing is what it seems. Form your own conclusions. Commit thoughtcrimes while you still can. The veil is so thin it's about to break."

The album has eight songs, and "Pale Blue Reflection" is first. It opens with clean guitars and there is a grey sky above. A crushing riff enters, but the melodies remain. The vocals are absolutely filthy, and they contrast with the somber melodies in the guitars quite well. It builds to a crescendo of aggressive sound, and then retreats, seguing into "Invocations of the Moon by Nora Godfrey." This song is chaotic out of the gate. So much so, that it takes you a few second to gain your bearings. The melodies clash with the aggression like oil and water, and dissonant tones abound. "Bus with no Number" is another deeply weighted song. The distorted riffs are towering, but clean ones are jovial, and the contrast has never been further apart.

"The Hunter and Orion's Thrall" is another strange sounding song. There is tension in the background, but the clean guitars move forward as if frolicking in the park on a sunny day. It eventually descends into the mud with a  heavy sludge in tow. "Heroic Aldous" begins with a train in the background, and a distorted riff follows. This is a very strange sound…the vocals are utterly filthy and there are melody lines that become warped with dissonance. It creates this unsettling feeling for me. "A0F" is very short one minute of mood music that is, well, disturbing. "A0G (Oppressive Convulsive Dysphoria)" has an incongruent sound akin to your left hand doing something completely different than your right.

"Beyond the Veil" is the final offering. The clean guitars are dissonant sounding and the vocals are torturous, and the two styles clash like two opposing armies on the battlefield. Although at its core, it's Black Metal, the album is really a very eclectic and varied mix of sounds, and you need to go into the listen with an open mind. Some music just isn't linear, and this out of the box album doesn't follow any rules.
