Evertale
Elettra Storm

ELETTRA STORM hailing from Italy were formed in 2023. The Power Metal outfit released their sophomore album, which was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni (DEATHLESS LEGACY; ELVENKING; REDEMPTION) at Domination Studio. It has a length of almost 43 minutes, and it was released via Italian Power, Heavy, and Thrash Metal specialists Scarlet Records. The album starts fast and dynamic with the song "Endgame", The guitar riffing is powerful and accompanied by a lot of double-bass drumming. The melodies are catchy, especially during the chorus parts. The vocals vary around the medium end of the vocal range with a few tonal shifts in either direction. There is a bit of male vocal support, introducing the break and the lead guitar solo. The final chorus sequence includes a drastic vocal tonal shift towards highly pitched notes. "The Secret Of The Universe" has plenty of traditional Power Metal vibes: the pace, the relentless double-bass drumming, the tight guitar riffing, and the epic melodies during the choruses. The track switches constantly between fast and mid-tempo, while the choruses are anthemic and almost sing-alongs. The break includes an extended and very contributing lead guitar solo.
"The Secret Of The Universe" is an early album highlight. "Hero Among Heroes" is a mid-tempo track with tight guitar riffing during the verse parts. The melodies are slightly darker compared to the opening tracks, but they are catchy during the choruses. The vocals have backing vocal support at times. The break offers another cool lead guitar solo. "Blue Phoenix" starts fast and dynamic. The verse parts are a mixture of fast classical Power Metal and mid-tempo parts. The melodies are once again catchy and sing-alongs during the choruses. Highlight of the track is the excellent lead guitar solo. "Blue Phoenix" has been released as video and the YouTube link is provided below. After so much pace and dynamics, it is time for a darker track and the mid-tempo "Ride The Rainbow" provides just that. The track has some Gothic vibes at the beginning and during the chorus. Focus is put on the dark melodic framework, where the chorus melodies are catchy. The vocals have a lot of versatility and use a greater vocal range. They are supported by the male backing vocals. Key element is the piano that is prominent at the beginning and at the end of the track, and it gives the song an additional layer. After this change in sound, there is a bit more Power Metal shredding in
"Master Of The Fairytales" with double-bass supported tight guitar riffing at fast pace to begin with. The track develops into a mixture of fast and mid-tempo parts with crushing basslines and powerful guitar riffs. The chorus melodies are once again catchy and sing-alongs. The vocals are split between the female lead vocals and the male vocals, while there are a few orchestral arrangements in the background. At the heart of the track, there is another excellent lead guitar solo during the break. "Master Of The Fairytales" is another album highlight. There is a change in sound again, and yes, the expected ballad is to come. "One Last Ray Of Light" is a slow song driven by the guitars, the dark and melancholic melodies, and the vocals. There are orchestral arrangements in the background led by the strings and the piano. Star of the track is vocalist Crystal Emiliani, who unleashes her full vocal range and her potential to transport emotions. Her performance on this track is the ultimate album highlight. "Judgment Time" starts with a crunching bass solo, introducing the mid-tempo track. The vocals are shared between the higher pitched female vocals and the medium pitched male vocals. Both complement each other very well. The guitar riffing is playful, and it leads to catchy melodies. Once again, there are orchestral arrangements in the background, where the strings are most prominent. The break does not need a lot of introductions; it goes right into the extended lead guitar solo.
The album finishes with "If The Stars Could Cry". It has a rather quiet start, but it develops into a mid-tempo track with powerful and direct guitar riffing and a lot of double-bass drumming. The melodies are easy-to-listen-to, especially during the choruses. The vocals utilize the higher pitched notes during most of the track. The track includes two solos, and both give the track an additional layer. "If The Stars Could Cry" is with almost eight minutes the longest track on the album. ELETTRA STORM deliver a very good album. "Evertale" has all the ingredients of excellent Power Metal: the pace, the guitar riffing, the melodies, and the solos. More importantly, it offers versatility in the sound, which makes the album more interesting to listen to. Highlights of the album are the lead guitar solos and the vocals, where vocalist Crystal Emiliani utilizes her huge vocal range and gives the tracks a different dimension. The album is well produced. Power Metal fans will be delighted with the new album of ELETTRA STORM and "Evertale" is one of the best Power Metal albums I listened to in recent times.
