Lovelessness
Bison B.C.

Coming from the land that gave us the greats RUSH, ANNIHILATOR and ANVIL, among others, BISON B.C. is a band that plays Sludge / Stoner Metal on the lines of MASTODON and the likes. I must confess I am not really familiar with this subgenre so I decided to face this album as a form of gateway that would show me and guide me into this unexplored subgenre, hoping it would instill the same passion in me as ALTAR OF OBLIVION did me for Doom Metal, but, unfortunately, that didn't happened.
I have always been a fan of vocals, if a band doesn't have decent vocals, there is a great chance I will dislike it, and that is exactly what happened for me with this album, the vocals are an annoying form of shouting and at times, when is not being buried beneath the over distorted sound of the instruments, it sounds as if it was recorded underwater. The songs all sound the same; at times almost sounding like is the same riff over and over again. I dreaded as I listened from one song to the other, waiting for it to be over already.
In conclusion, in my own personal opinion this is a record I will never listen to again, I absolutely hated it, the vocals are terrible and the instruments are really irritating and sound like a bunch of senseless noise. Instead of showing a new world of possibilities in metal, this record did quite the opposite; it made me avoid at all costs the realms of the Sludge / Stoner Metal.
