Necromancer

Night Attack

I have to admit that the opening riff of the EP and the title track “Necromancer” gets your attention right away. It has that quality that has your ears pointing towards the sound and your brain accepting the intensity and almost classic level of musicality.

From the EPK: NIGHT ATTACK was formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2016 and came to existence in summer 2017. A rehearsal recording was done in late 2017. In 2019 the band recorded the demo "MMXX" and was released in 2022 by Duplicate Records in Norway. Later in 2019 NIGHT ATTACK recorded the EP called "The Initiation". In 2021 the band signed with Metal Scrap Records and released its EP in 2022. "Necromancer" is the 3rd release by the US Extreme Blackened Death Thrash Metal 4 piece and was recorded in 2024. In 2025 NIGHT ATTACK signs with WormholeDeath. Well, that makes finding out about the history of the band a lot easier.

I have to admit that the opening riff of the EP and the title track "Necromancer" gets your attention right away. It has that quality that has your ears pointing towards the sound and your brain accepting the intensity and almost classic level of musicality. That changes after a few times, when the song turns into a tune that has Death Metal written all over it, but with a Progressive twist. The voice of Verigo only adds to that feeling as it enhances the atmosphere in those directions. The next song, "Blitzkrieg", would easily have fitted into the repertoire of SLAYER during the first half of the eighties. This is pure Thrash Metal, but with a very Old School vibe, but also with a sound of that era. And still, it doesn't sound dated or ancient.

As for "Sektor B", that is a lot slower, a lot more melodramatic, but with a brilliant riff that will have you thinking of a lot of Heavy Metal bands of way back when. Again, what NIGHT ATTACK brings feels like you're going back some forty years, whilst at the same time retaining sound that is very apt and fitting for the current market and times. As for the closing song of the EP "Necromancer", the title "Mosh And Thrash" says it all, really. This is one on which you can let yourself go, be bold, act wild, rearrange the furniture by throwing it around. I don't know if that would please your housemates, but it's worth the risk. Put all of my comments together and you will find that you have been listening to a pleasant EP, and that NIGHT ATTACK hopefully will be back with more stuff like on "Necromancer", which is a solid slab of music worth as few listens for every real Metalhead.
