Arise

Omnivide

There is no doubt in my mind; I really like what OMNIVIDE does on “Arise”. This certainly is Death Metal from start to finish, but the way they have been able io incorporate the Progressive Metal inspirations, rhythms, breaks and parts is nothing less than impressive.

It is quite remarkable that when you try and find out the history of a band you might run into some real surprises. That is definitely the case with OMNIVIDE, the Progressive/Melodic Death Metal band from the Canadian city of Moncton in New Brunswick. They were formed in 2020 from the ashes of SUNBIRD, a tribute band to OPETH. And when you start to listen to the music on the 2025 EP "Arise" that certainly makes a lot of sense. As this is a new band for me it will be no surprise that I haven't heard "A Tale Of Fire" yet, their full length studio album from 2024. To cut a long story short; that needs to be rectified.

Because there is no doubt in my mind; I really like what OMNIVIDE does on "Arise". This certainly is Death Metal from start to finish, but the way they have been able io incorporate the Progressive Metal inspirations, rhythms, breaks and parts is nothing less than impressive. If you don't listen to this EP with your full attention, you will be missing a lot. The music makes your brain short circuit when you do listen, as there is so much going on that you are very much in danger of an overload if you haven't got all your senses in a row. As with their peers OPETH the guys in OMNIVIDE  have the ability to write and play songs in such a way that the best only comes out when you are fully immersed into your listening session. What I will advise you is to wear headphones. That way the sound will be piercing your brains in a closed circuit, preventing them from trying to break free.

In 26:25 minutes OMNIVIDE have proven to me that they are the bees' knees, top dollar. And if you are not convinced by my words, you really need to have a listen. And if you wish to avoid running away halfway through "Arise", get someone to strap you to your seat, or glue the headphones in such a way that there is no way out but to listen until the end. Especially when you hear the fourth song "Omnipotent" you will have to conclude that these Canadians might well become the next big thing. This is where the workings of the guitar equal that of someone like YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, whilst maintaining the Progressive Death Metal moniker with outspoken ease. I can only end with; Hail to OMNIVIDE, may they "Arise" to the highest level of notoriety.
