Enemynside - Whatever Comes album cover

I never understood the concept behind modern Thrash Metal, so when I got to review ENEMYNSIDE I thought that I will be able to figure things out. However, for the people who don't want to read till the end of the review to find out the answer , here it goes: ENEMYNSIDE might be modern but aren't Thrash Metal nor is their album a Thrash oriented release. Is it any good you ask? For that answer you will have to read further on.

ENEMYNSIDE hail from Italy, one of the Metal super powers of the 21st century, and "Whatever Comes" is their third album, released via Mighty Music. I was thinking of writing a review that will take into consideration that according to the band and promotion, this album is modern Thrash Metal. Nonetheless, after the third listening I understood that if I had done that I would have to give this album an "F", so I decided to review the album like any other Metal release regardless of the style declared by the band.

In contrast to my other reviews, where I do a song by song review, this time I will have to pass in order to prevent others the suffering I endured. These guys play pure Metal and that is it. With very few sections that can be considered Thrash. In addition, all of the song have many twists and turns, progressive style, which doesn't help the songs. The biggest problem on the album is the lead vocals: sometime clean singing and sometimes manliness screaming; again I say everybody can scream but few can do it right and with style. Many songs sound like a blended Metalcore and sort of Thrash deliveries. This entire blend provides a distorted mesh without any taste.

I can't call this album crap because after all the band did work hard to compose, record, sing and produce the album. On the other hand, I will say "Sorry not for me". P.S - please be aware that this review expresses my opinion only as always.
