GNOT releases "Eternity," which is seven tracks of excellent blackgaze, which will either take you into space or suggest you think about what you feel now. They would like to separately note alternation and placement of clean and extreme vocals on the album." The album has seven songs, and "Пульс" is first…a short introduction to the album, and it has fat, tense keyboard notes and a heavy, thudding drum beat that sound like it comes from outer space. The pace begins to quicken, seguing into "Пустой," which has a hardened riff and tortured, aggressive vocals. It isn't without a measure of melody, but they are very somber, and there are also Progressive/Post elements at work. This is a very vital and lively sound overall.
"Зверь Среди Звёзд" begins with gentle, clean guitar tones that let some light into the song. The hardened tones that follow and still very melodic, although again somber, and they tug at you with cause. The vocals are tortured screams, but the melody refuses to give in. For me, it's like gazing on a brightly colored bird who lays dead before you. "Стеклянные стены" has more depressive tones, from a slower pace colored with a bit more darkness and tension, and the guitar riff has a distinct, nasty groove. This time, the band lets the aggression take the song where it wants to. The sound drops abruptly at the halfway mark, letting in clean, somber tones. The madness returns, but now the two share the same living space.
"В Бесконечности" is a short little song that consists of gentle keyboard notes that bring you down from the previous aggression and allow you to catch your breath. It's actually quite charming. "Твое Имя" has a faster pace and thicker sound, but again, the melody won't be dismissed so easily. They temper the aggressive vocals at just the right times, and with just the right amount of sonority. If you can withstand the horrendous winds, there is something still standing there that gives you hope. "Вечность" is the final song, and it opens with warm, gentle tones, but still a touch of sadness. Clean vocals lead the charge, and melody is thrust to the forefront of the song. It's quite emotional, and beautiful, and even the harsh vocals are.
Overall, I really connected with the way that aggression was mixed with melody. It's a formula that a lot of bands use these days, but not all of them do it as well as GNOT. They interweave them into each song in such a way that they are locked together, like separate strings that together make an article of clothing. If you remove one, you damage it permanently. What a gorgeously contentious sound they have created on "Eternity."
