As I Wait For Death

Behind Bars

What BEHIND BARS brings to the turntable is over 17 minutes of very enjoyable music that does fit in the Groovy Thrash Hardcore Metal category, so Metalheads as well as Hardcore fans will be able to go crazy when they listen to BEHIND BARS.
September 17, 2025
When you use a name like BEHIND BARS you are setting an expectation with the audience that what you are offering is going to be bad ass. Well, these Belgians have been together from 2015 and have been making their own brand of Groovy Thrash Hardcore Metal since then. In the meantime, they released a single ("Trapped Inside" in 2022) and two albums, "Free At Last" in 2019 and "All In Due Time" in 2023. Now they have deemed us worthy of receiving notification of a new EP, which they named "As I Wait For Death". The digital version of this EP was released independently and has been available since 12 September 2025. The physical versions will have you waiting for another three months, being revealed to the world on 12 December 2025. It might not take long, as I do know that in just over 17 minutes BEHIND BARS will have you tapping along to their Groovy Thrash Hardcore Metal, because there is no escaping the fact everything on "As I Wait For Death" has a rhythm, has a groove, is Heavy and has a presence that is not to be denied. If you are not tapping your feet or at least nodding your head you are definitely listening to the wrong kind of music for you. If you do like what you hear, you might be loosening your neck muscles by headbanging, or if you're still young and/or very active, thrashing/moshing/slamming along to the five really good sounding songs on "As I Wait For Death". This, my friends, is definitely not an EP that is to be enjoyed without reacting physically. This is one to undergo with your whole body. As for what these guys bring to the (for now digital) turntable is over 17 minutes of very enjoyable music that does fit in the Groovy Thrash Hardcore Metal category, so Metalheads as well as Hardcore fans will be able to go crazy when they listen to BEHIND BARS. I feel that what I hear on "As I Wait For Death" is more than good enough for a very large audience to experience and appreciate. Maybe the band aren't treading on any new paths, but the road they have chosen is one where they are able to shine, to make their mark. I just hope that enough people will take the time to see if they like being BEHIND BARS, and join the band in their quest "As I Wait For Death".
