Atomik Train

Atomik Train

Canada has given the world three of my favorite pass times, hockey, drinking beer and eating bacon, and two of the three I am considered a pro. They also know how to rock and roll, so let me put my beer and bacon down as I drop the needle on the latest import ATOMIK TRAIN.
September 12, 2025

From the band’s press release: Get ready to crank the volume, ATOMIK TRAIN, the hard rock band that’s been shaking the Canadian underground venues and festival stages alike is FULL steam ahead and posed to redefine the modern rock landscape, with thunderous riffs, relentless rhythms and anthemic hooks, ATOMIK TRAIN is not just a band, they are a sonic force of nature. Formed by lead singer Francois Babin and lead guitarist Junior Bourcier, forged in the heart of Montreal they blend raw power of classic rock with a modern edge drawing comparisons to legends like GUNS N’ ROSES, FOO FIGHTERS and AVENGED SEVENFOLD, while craving out a sound that’s entirely their own.

Their self-titled debut album set for release on October 3, 2025 on Crown X Recordings is produced by John Webster (AEROSMITH, MOTLEY CRUE, ALICE COOPER) and promises to “spread love, hope and one hell of a party through rock and roll”. Canada has produced some of my all-time favorite rockin bands TRIUMPH, RUSH and APRIL WINE, so I am really hoping ATOMIK TRAIN can join that elite list, eh.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold my Molson because the two opening tracks  “Supersonik Speedway” and “Destination” are powerful and energetic songs that immediately grab your attention and doesn’t let go. They’re built on driving rhythm, huge guitar distorted riffs and strong aggressive vocals that feel both raw and melodic but are perfectly controlled and exhilarating. A fantastic wat to start the album off. “Back on Earth” (not a cover of the Ozzy Osbourne song) shows the impeccable versatility of ATOMIK TRAIN shifting to a power ballad with emotional depth and slower tempo with its dynamic shifts from intimate verses to a powerful anthem-like chorus that features a face melting solo compliments of Junior Bourcier. Flirting with a more bluesy vibe on “Long Way Down” delivers a soulful and expressive song with a nice shuffling rhythmic pattern with a straight and direct tone where Francois Babin becomes the storyteller. Back to a rockin and rolling good ole-time party time song on “Playground” is a high energy romp with harmonic hooks and a contagious chorus that’ll get you reminiscing back to beach parties and cruising with the top down. The album ends with the fast paced grooving track “Deal with It” sprinkled with an effervescent vibe and rocking good feel and attitude that will have you toss your inhibitions out the window and dance like a four-year-old child.

ATOMIK TRAIN delivers as promised on all fronts. A true classic rock feel with innovative musicianship, outstanding and diverse vocals aided by thought provoking lyrics. Truly a wonderful debut album with all arrows pointing up. Now, back to my Molson, eh.
