Undending Confluence

Kamra

Overall, this was a devastatingly devious album that took full advantage of all the things that Black Metal can offer. At its core, it was evil, but unlike the void, it was fully alive. The harrowing feeling it gave me may have turned my hair white.

Hailing from Slovenia, Atmospheric/Experimental Black Metal band KAMRA present their sophomore album here titled "Undending Confluence." The album has six songs, and "Unlightment" is first. The opening tones echo with mystery, and there is darkness afoot. The darkness spreads slowly, and seemingly unnoticeably, until you look down and it's all you can see. Harrowing, evil tones abound in the background, and you get the distinct feeling that something massive is lurking. The main riff that kicks in is also quite dark, cloudy, and evil and the harsh vocals help this feeling to matriculate. The song is also excellent at developing atmosphere.

"Cavernal Rebirth of Ends" begins with clean guitars, still swirling with darkness. A little light comes into the room, but it flickers and dies. Double bass drums kick in, and the guitars electrify with power. Listen to the animated bass work also…it is excellent…and the vocals rise with anger until they boil over. Through just two songs so far, the album sounds like a warning for all mankind. "Owlgrowth" is a short, three-minute offering that spends much of its time in the shadows. "Weaver's Bane" comes straight for your throat, with a thicker sound, and absolutely raging vocals. They are guttural at times, but mostly blood-curdling screams.

"Of Pillars, Walls and Mutilation" begins with clean guitars, and again, a healthy dose of darkness. Clean vocals ease in, and then segue into death threats shouted from the roof. The longer it plays, the worse the killings becomes. "Dreams of Veiled Veins" closes the album, and it's as if the band saved much of the rage in a bottle and then opened it. The harsh vocals provide the outright anger, while the cleans fill in the background. It takes a pause, while the killer silently reloads, before unleashing one final assault. Finally, it fades away. Overall, this was a devastatingly devious album that took full advantage of all the things that Black Metal can offer. At its core, it was evil, but unlike the void, it was fully alive. The harrowing feeling it gave me may have turned my hair white.
