Actuality
Inoculation

INOCULATION formed in 2011 (Way before the recent Inoculations) in Cleveland, Ohio, emerging from guitarist/vocalist Anthony Allen’s passion for ’80s–’90s US death and thrash. After a few demos and EPs—including Elysium (2013) and Anatomize (2019) their debut full-length Pure Cosmic Dread dropped in 2018. This drew the attention of the Maggot Stomp Label who signed INOCULATION To their Label
Along with the “Anatomize” EP in 2019, the band’s first tour came with MUTILATRED. With Covid-19 in play, it was an awesome opportunity to write music, a new full-length called “Celestial Putridity” was released in 2021, then the band toured from 2021 to 2024 with the likes of REVOCATION, FROZEN SOUL, VOMIT FORTH, KRUISIN, ALLUVIAL, CYTOTOXIN and many more. Writing music in between touring brought to “Actuality “, released on April 18th, 2025, with more touring and cosmic death metal to come.
Kicking off this tasty slab of Death Metal is Void Corpse Collection (3.11) So I cannot say I am a huge fan of the low guttural style vocals but what does stand out in this track is the dual vocal attack, which adds a bit of spice and variety to the track. Music wise this would scare a hungry dog out of a butcher shop. Plasmic Mutations (3:24) Lead singer/bassist Nick Nedley kicks this in a gut with some complex bass playing. It’s clear to say this man knows his way around the bass. Can hear the SUFFOCATION influence. Divergent Timeline (2:53) For some reason the legendary band DEATH and ATHEIST comes to mind with this one and the band show cases their technical style of playing, I like this one a lot.
Structure of Secrecy (4:03) This would leave any metal head grasping for air in the pit. No doubt this track would have to be on the setlist. A Subtle Body (4:08) Blast beats for days on this one, drummer Charlie Winters is not mucking around on this one, relentless kick‑hammer blast propel the track’s technical framework into overdrive and the drum & bass link up perfectly. Orbital Decay (3:04) Nothing really stands out on this track for me apart from the bass riffing mid-way through this track. Again, Nick is no slouch playing his bass.
Anthropomorphic Vestige (3:09) Yeah, I like this one. Catchy, infectious groove that hooks you in, then face-slammed into the dirt. Circle pit time. Unobservable Phenomenon (4:10) Unrelentless brutality is on the cards, melodic atmosphere with complex musicianship. Cerebral Transmissions (2:25) Fast, tight, and impactful. Think early‑2000s DECAPITATED meets mid‑tempo grooving death metal. Star Devil Predator (3.15) What a way to go out. Blistering drum pace, massive riffing and memorable hooks and structure. They rip off your head off and shit down your neck with this closer.
Verdict: INOCULATION’s Actuality is a relentless assault—tight, nasty, and cosmic in scope. At first it sounded like out-of-control chaotic mayhem, but the more I listened to this, the more it grew on me. The album blends technical prowess with brutal songwriting in a way that suggests bigger roads ahead. If you like your Cosmic Death Metal with a large dose of brutality this one will be right up your alley.
