The four members of this Doom Metal band all come from different countries, but Sweden is listed as their home. This is their second album, and it has eight songs. “Realm of Ruin” is first, and it blurs the lines between Doom, NWOBHM, and Trash Metal, in that the vocals are doomy, but the main riffs are thrashy. They aren’t overly inventive, however. The lead guitar work is pretty solid. “The Lighthouse Chronicles” moves slowly, with meaty bass notes and a fairly simple riff. Unfortunately, the band uses riffs that you have heard before, and it makes the first two songs really unable to get off the ground too much.

“Devil on the Throne” is another slower offering where the band flirts a bit with melody, but don’t ride it our too far, and so it is dead in the water once again. The riffs are punishing, but the music is too straightforward. “The Apostate’s Prayer” begins with clean tones and a very somber feeling. It makes a sharp transition however back to that emotionally heavy, doomy sound. “Room in the Mirror” moves a little faster, and you get more of a sense of the band’s musicianship. But again, another overly simple riff doesn’t do their performance skills justice. “No Vestige of Light” presents clean tones in the beginning, but it falls back to the same sound once again.

“Kingdom Undone” is the final cut, and it has nice presence of bass guitar, as well as dual lead guitar harmonies going for it. But again, the main riff is just too elementary. This wasn’t a bad album at all, it just lacked creativity and originality. For as good of musicians as the band is, it just didn’t separate itself from so many other albums out there with a similar sound. Doom Metal can be very exciting, but this album just didn’t excite me much.
