God of the Tribes

From their EPK, “It’s about “BUILD UP” this time. If listened to loud, it's ENERGY, motivation, and aggressive behavior. If you sit down and listen to, with good headphones, it will bring out a different "experience" because the mix is "moving and breathing" if that makes sense. KRATORNAS is created by an active person for another active person. It’s not meant to be “experienced” by some lethargic, depressed “dude” with “mental health” issues looking to experience some… “atmosphere.” KRATORNAS drives “function”: working out, contribute to community, train, fuck some women, etc. I don’t get this “suicidal metal” experience. Never that I encouraged the “fans” to slump inside, watch TV all day, and eat Cheerios. NO! We sleep when we’re dead! If you’re a hyper person, we are your jam!"
The album has four songs, and “Cursed Sky Serpent” is first, and it’s a beastly 15-minute song. There is a good deal of chaos and dissonance, and it’s hard to find the song’s structure at first. I would loosely call this Black Metal due to the vocals, but the dissonant tones often disrupt the listening experience. “Evil and Plunder” is much shorter, and the poor production value comes through without all of the dissonance. It’s too high within the treble variables and there isn’t enough bass. There is still a lot of push and pull, start and stops going on within the music. The music is indeed hyper. “Ravaged by Hurakaan” hears the chaos and dissonance continue, and it really makes it hard to enjoy the music. I understand music that is “outside the box,” but it should still be enjoyable.
“Novena para Guerra” is the final song…and expecting more chaos and dissonance, imagine my surprise at some structure…at first anyway. It falls pretty quickly back to the same pattern as the other songs. The bass is animated but there doesn’t seem to be a particular key that the listener can grab onto, nor a pace that makes sense. The music was energetic, and hyper, and I too don’t appreciate overly depressive music, especially in the Black Metal genre. Call this album unique, that’s for sure, and If you can deal with chaos and dissonance, this album is for you.
