LUCILLE hailing from Bialystok, Poland were formed in 2017. The Thrash Metal outfit released so far one EP. Their debut full-length album was mixed and mastered by Aleksander Hybs (GRIMOIRE) and recorded at HiGain Studio. “Dawn Of Destruction” has a length of about 43 minutes, and it was released via German Speed, Heavy, and Thrash Metal specialists Dying Victims Production. The album starts with the atmospheric, grim, and tension-building intro “Desolate Winds”, transitioning into “Brand New World”, which is introduced by thunderous guitar riffs and strong basslines. The track develops into a mid-tempo track with verse parts driven by tight guitar riffs and crushing basslines. The vocals vary between the medium and higher end of the vocal range. The melodies are dark and after the first verse/chorus part, there is a first contributing lead guitar solo. The track changes tempo halfway through and Brand New World” develops into a fast traditional Thrash Metal song. There are a few more lead guitar solos, all of them are very contributing to the track. “Genetic Curse” is a track at blistering pace with flesh-ripping guitar riffs. The track has every ingredient of excellent old school Thrash Metal: the guitar riffs, the pace and aggression, and the chilling melodies. The vocals have backing vocal support for the chorus lines. The highlight of the track is the cool lead guitar solo. “Genetic Curse” is one of the best album tracks.

Prophets Of Disease” maintains the pace from the previous track, and after an introductory instrumental part, the verse part starts with tight guitar riffing and strong basslines. There are a few tempo switches throughout the track for the bridges, while the chorus parts come with a measured tempo with thunderous guitar riffs. The break switches back to blistering pace and the extended lead guitar solo is accompanied by crunching basslines. There are once again multiple solos during the track. “Nightstalker” starts frantic with devastating guitar riffs and the lead guitars. It takes a while for the vocals to join in for the verse part, which is driven by tight Thrash Metal riffing. The vocals use many higher notes during the track with many distinct vocal shifts. The highlight of the track is another cool lead guitar solo. The title track has a lengthy introduction with the guitars and bass using a lot of switches in tempo and rhythm. The melodic framework is chilling and finally the track transitions into a verse part at a measured tempo. It does not take long until the track switches back to crazy pace with flesh-ripping guitar riffs and an extended lead guitar solo. “Dawn Of Destruction” has been released as video, and the YouTube link is provided below.

Most of the tracks start with an extended instrumental part and “On Your Knees” is no exception. The main riff is introduced and accompanied by strong basslines. It is initially a mid-tempo track; however, it does not take long and “On Your Knees” goes back at insane pace with tight guitar riffing and another extended lead guitar solo. There is an almost seamless transition to “Thrash Resurrection” with the pace and rhythm remaining as during the previous track, while the guitar riffing is a bit more playful. There are a few subtle changes in tempo and rhythm throughout the track. The vocalist gets backing vocal support during a couple of occasions. At the heart of the track are the extended lead guitar solos, which are again the highlight of the track. The album finishes with “Machine Of Death” and after the instrumental introduction, the mid-tempo verse part begins. The guitar riffing is thunderous at times and the melodies are spine-chilling. For the chorus part, there is a switch towards measured tempo, while the break goes back to mid-tempo for the lead guitar solos. The break is central to the track with raising the pace during the break for another solo. Eventually, the track circles back for another chorus part to conclude the track.

LUCILLE deliver traditional Thrash Metal at high quality and intensity. “Dawn Of Destruction” has pace, aggression, flesh-ripping guitar riffing, and chilling melodies. All songs focus on the lead guitars and the multiple solos are the highlights of the tracks. The album is well produced. Thrash Metal fans will love what they hear and Dawn Of Destruction” is one of those Thrash Metal albums which may be remembered when “Best of” reviews are written at the end of the year.
