As I set my speaker dial to eleven and prepare for the inaugural listen I feel like a young man walking into a strip club for the very first time, full of excitement and high expectations fully aware of what I’m about to experience. “Winds of Time” is a song with a message, a song openly reflective on how the past is still very much alive and relevant in today’s world, where the same tragic neglect of human lives and rights that devastated prior generations, is unfolding in many corners of the world today. The message of the song paired with the classic yet modern sound unites together to create something truly unique and powerful.

“Winds of Time” opens up like a bat out of hell with a blistering barrage of heavy riffs and a rock hard galloping back beat setting the stage perfectly as the celestial vocals enter and rocket us into a higher stratosphere for a turbulent, high powered atmospheric petal to the metal ride, there’s no fooling around here, the boys mean business. The roller coaster ride of tempo changes throughout deliver a bone chilling musical utopia that had me on the edge of my proverbial “heavy metal seat” as the flamboyant whirlwind of darkened, different melodies create a

majestic musical voyage, the vocals are beyond brilliant, the orchestration is perfectly placed and balanced, the guitar work is insanely magnificent but never overpowers the ensemble and lyrically it is thought provoking, relevant, revealing and moving. “Always watching the evil eye, observation to hypnotize….drums of war triumphantly beat you down, first smoke and strategy, confiscate reality….under the winds of time grows the perfect crime” 

“Winds of Time” is a wee bit over ten minutes long, but NEVER felt redundant or excessive and the outstanding video production embraces the viewer into the heart and soul of this cinematic poignant journey. With their previous debut EP, full length and “live” albums, WINGS OF STEEL have positioned themselves to be the next big metal band for years to come. I personally will be counting down the days when this full album is released.
