L.A. Guns

L.A. Guns is an US band that formed in 1986. And if I did count right, they did release their 16th album "Hollywood Forever"last June through Cleopatra Records. A Rock /Heavy Metal/ '80's album, with an old school sound like we are still in the '80's, but then again L.A. Guns came to live in the '80's. Guess they managed to stay close to their roots and also this album didn't fall far from that tree.
Not that L.A. Guns hasn't grown over the years, because they have, but they still managed to keep a certain sound. "Hollywood Forever"does hold a sound that's typical L.A. Guns, a sound that goes way back to the '80's. Still this album doesn't sound like they've been doing the same thing just over and over again, even though a same like chemistry is there. Same like, because L.A. Guns did have their share of member shifts. It's just that also the new members became part of the L.A. Guns chemistry and sound instead of the other way around, giving "Hollywood Forever"a familiar sound, without sounding just the same like before.
"Hollywood Forever" made me think about the '80's right from the first spin, the thought that I was listening to an re-released album also crossed my mind. Guess that's also because I lived the '80's as a teen who loved hard rock/heavy metal, the kind of music that's still there to hear in a pure form on "Hollywood Forever". The fact that L.A. Guns has grown does show too, just not in a changing sound way, more in a way that made their existing sound stronger.
L.A. Guns contains skilled and experienced players to hear clearly inside guitar lines, drum lines, bass lines and clear vocal lines. The way they are into their lines is not only experienced, skilled and hard work, but also relaxed which makes "Hollywood Forever" a fun album to listen too. The album does hold songs that can be listened on a row and separately from the rest, simply because all the songs are standing steady as a mountain together and for themselves and personally I think that "Hollywood Forever" is a masterpiece in its genre. L.A. Guns is simply breathing that genre.
