DaiTribe - Epochalypse A.D. album cover

There are many ways to express one's anger. Sadly there are a lot of individuals that choose to do it physically, and I don't mean by sporting, for the harm of it all instead of talking, writing or singing about it. Through the tracks of their debut album, "Epochalypse A.D.", I sensed the anger running down the spinal cords of this US band named DAITRIBE. Their anger, disappointment and contempt lies within how some of the Metal music is brought up today. In a way I agree with them, there is a lot of crap out there laying around with no purpose while inflicting low quality as a standard. Nonetheless, the issue of crap has always been a deal, even in the glory days, yet who said it's not worth dwelling on it in the war perspective? And that is exactly what DAITRIBE did.

I haven't known DAITRIBE at all before reaching their debut, but I had the feeling that I would be stepping into something modern, a member of the New Wave Of American Metal generation. When the moment of truth arrived with the first snaps of "Betray", a full load of rage was discharged. Essentially by their style of playing I recognized the hard stuff of late PANTERA efforts, meaning the Groove Metal kind, along with Nu Metal and Hardcore. Most of the riffing was pretty much generic and undemanding with several points of a cool skirmish between the guitars and bass. When it came to the lead guitar work I felt that there was something there though there were a few solos that sounded illiterate, meaning just to say there was something there, not such a good idea I might add even for a modern Metal band. The rhythms had their way with some intense sections, yet all in all when it came to drumming it was pretty regular as didn't too many points where I was dazzled to my bones. The screamo kind vocals maybe the new pattern of the Core industry but at least here those were performed with finesse. However, sometimes this pattern, especially with nearly the same vocal rhythms, got to be so common and lacked excitement. For a band that is willing to fight the good fight for Metal, while distributing some well written lyrics in the process, I would say that DAITRIBE came out pretty average.

The song "Sanctuary", which was my top point of light of this album, made me think of how music a savior from all life's smoldering troubles. Musically it was rather diverse in comparison to the others while maintaining a great blissful section with actual singing yet not afraid of showing the red face of heaviness when needed. "Redemption" also sounded deep and in a way emotional. It is a rather heavy song, sounded tight bearing a smacking chorus. Summing things up I would say that this is an average release with a few spikes here and there, I respect and agree with what DAITRIBE tried to say on this album and I think that they should keep on moving on the same line. Yet musically I would say that they should take a step forward when it comes to their compositions and leave out the ordinary behind.
