Last Autumn's Dream - Nine Lives album cover

It's a mixed feelings CD and a destabilizing delivery for me, as I love this band very much, the individualities are strong & full of expertise!

LAST AUTUMN'S DREAM is quite an excellent band with some essential releases as "Dreamcatcher" or "A Touch of Heaven" and "Saturn Skyline", this band is considered by some (included me) as a 'DreamTeam act' / providing with a tight regularity outstanding music as both Jamie Borger (TALISMAN) & Nalley Pahlsson (HARDCORE CIRCUS) are also playing with TREAT and a countless lot of Swedish project... Michael Erlandsson (ex-CRASH) was also very prolific in his own solo career and the ex-FAIR WARNING lead guitarist Andy Malecek is as well a talented and tasteful player, he is also backed this time by Peter Pac Söderström (ex-IGNITION, ex-FRONTIERS).

But this album is their weakest release moreover still good but filled with 'the business as usual' impression and the routine is not the most rocking thing or the most exciting qualifying verbal description. This,as the title suggest their ninth release in 8 years, their 3rd since the tragic death of Marcel Jacob (RISING FORCE / TALISMAN / NORUM) (R.I.P.), maybe we can find here the cause of such bland impact; even so, I still love the voice of Mr Erlandsson (this guy is the most incredibly underrated vocalist), the huge quality of the production, the even bigger quality of the players and the good ANGEL cover song "Waited For A Long Time" and also the quite good duet with Jeff Scott Soto... So why such restraints & reserves... I don't really know... The fantastic songwriting is replaced here by a less genuine and more generic however Pure AOR songs... no offense to conservatives Ayatollahs Maybe that's the cause but the newcomers will be pleased anyhow and no matter how you think about it Marcel Jacob as you must be proud there in the Heavens...

Anyway, a good Scandi AOR release but not revolutionary in any way... Still interesting... And essential for the TREAT / TALISMAN / FAIR WARNING related Fans!
