Riotgod - Invisible Empire album cover

When I first got his CD I already had a picture in my head - Steinmetal understands my music style, he knows that I am a huge Heavy Metal / Rock N' Roll fan and that he will send me something in the same manner. Now I am opening my e-mail and see the new package from Metalville Records. It's a new album of RIOTGOD! I must say that the artwork of the album didn't impress me at all, but you know how they say - In Rock N' Roll it's not about the artwork, it's about the music. After 2 seconds I found myself listening to the first track of the album named "Breed". I can say that a style of the band is something between Stoner / Heavy / Hard Rock, but it's hard to say exactly which of the three the main influence is.

It sounds like the band can't play only Stoner Rock as it seems that they must put some Heavy Metal in it. I think it's a really great mix for all the fans of the genre. I can say that Sunshine has a very interesting voice outline and he can take you back 20 years, back to the 80s. He is really doing it great. Garrett Sweeny and Jim Baglino did a really great job as well, and he reminded me of the famous Geezer Butler, but that is my opinion. My overall impression of the album is really good, and it helped with the feeling of the 80s.

But there is one thing that I can't understand! Respectfully, how such great musicians such as Sunshine, Garrett Sweeny and Jim Baglino, have been getting along, professionally speaking, with their drummer, Bob Pantella. Yes, I know that the band was formed by the latter and Baglino, but this guy is not a good drummer at all. I believe that there will be world peace, the return of Christ or the Messiah, and aliens will visit Earth, before Pantella writes a drum solo that would make me smile. But except from the drummer, all the other things in the album are really good, and I recommend you to try this album. I think that one day these guys will become legends.
