Intuition
Jaded Heart
JADED HEART is a hard rock melodic metal band with members from Duisburg, Germany and Stockholm, Sweden. Formen in 1994, they have put out multiple albums and gone through various line up changes, before releasing their newest release, a four song EP called, “Intuition.” A powerhouse of a band, JADED HEART gives you great heavy rhythms, great blistering solos. The music is a bit power metal, with a little bit of classic metal riffs. The vocals are solid and powerful. Over the years, these guys have honed their skills as musicians, and I’m wondering why I’m just finding out about this band now. “Intuition” is the one new original song. With a quick little ascending piano piece, the song pulls you in and gets right into it. The band, and the song, really kick off at the seventeen second mark, coming in with a heavy guitar rhythm. The vocals are well done. There’s a change in rhythm for the bridge just before the solo, and then back to the main rhythm under the solo. The leads are fast and shredding. This song, like so many of theirs, rocks.
“Dance the Night Away” is a cover of Europe. I had to go back and listen to Europe’s version, as I’m not familiar with them other than their big hits in the eighties. JADED HEART kept the essence and brought their sound to the song. The press release says that Europe is a big influence on JADED HEART and it shows, and that the band has used this song as a “warm up” in rehearsals for years. In listening to other music from JADED HEART, I can definitely hear the Europe influence. This song has high energy, crunchy guitars, and great production. “Square Hammer” is a Ghost cover. Again, I had to familiarize myself with the original to make any comparison, as I only know a little of Ghost. I always found Ghost to be a strange band that looks more metal than they sound, and a weird tone to the vocals. JADED HEART definitely metal this up with all heavy guitars. This is another good heavy song, and one that might just be better than the original, depending on how much you like Ghost.
The last song, “Love Is A Killer,” was recorded live in Hamburg in 2022. The original song appeared on the 2009 release, “Perfect Insanity.” This is another killer song with a great guitar riff. The vocals are amazing. The production is great and sounds almost studio quality, which shows how great JADED HEART is live, as well in the studio. JADED HEART is a great band that rocks. They have great guitars, with powerful vocals, and heavy rhythms. “Intuition” is a great four song EP, and that’s the only negative against it. It’s just an EP with only four songs. I’m wishing it was a full length album with more songs. I’ll definitely be checking out more from JADED HEART.
