HATEBREED celebrated 30 years as one of the most influential hardcore metal bands with a huge tour across the U.S. and support from CARCASS, HARM'S WAY, and CRYPTA. This was a tour for the moshers and fans of all things heavy, and the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City was more than happy to welcome them. Brazilian death metal badasses CRYPTA kicked the night off and the talent among this group of all female musicians is mind-blowing. They are as heavy as it gets and this tour was a prime opportunity for them to reach new fans. I really hope this band just keeps get bigger, because they deserve it and their live performance is wicked. HARM'S WAY took the stage next with their unrelenting hardcore sound and frenetic stage energy. They were essential in keeping the type of vigor this 30 year celebration needed. English extreme metal band CARCASS are legends in their own right, having been around since the mid-1980s, and I don't think there could have been a better choice for direct support for this tour. These guys are beyond heavy and had the crowd raging. When HATEBREED finally took the stage, you'd think the fans' energy would be spent, but HATEBREED knows how to bring out that second wind. HATEBREED makes music for mosh pits and the fans were going off. They have a ton of anthemic songs and played a string hits, including "Perseverance," "To the Threshold," "Live for This," and, of course, "Destroy Everything." You can bet fans left this show exhausted and sweaty, but invigorated by their love for heavy metal.
