From Bandcamp: HAG's" sophomore album “Over Stormskapte Fjell” ventures further into the mystical and conjures visions of dark forests, desolate, windswept mountain tops and times long gone, while reflecting on the devil's essence. Whoever seeks a reflection of modernity and current trends will be disappointed, for this record is rooted in old values and individualism. The music is a contemplation on the genre's golden days and is pursuing its own artistic expression through an onslaught of hard-hitting drumming, sharp riffing and vocals straight from the abyss. Energetic aggression alternates and intertwines with atmospheric and hypnotic passages to create a meditation amidst the storm, while there is a deliberately minimalistic approach.

Talk about an album that creates this atmosphere of jet black hair draped over your face, wearing your old and beat up leather jacket, smoking a cigarette, and talking about what the most Kvlt band you listened to this past week with your buddies was. This album puts you in the midst of the late 80's and early 90's wave of Black metal in Europe... And im here for it! "HAG's"Over Stormskapte Fjell” is an evocative journey into the depths of black metal, a genre that thrives on atmosphere, emotion, and raw intensity. Vocalist "Thorn" delivers a visceral performance, with raspy shrieks that convey a sense of urgency and despair. The vocals are complemented by layers of atmospheric melodies and backing chants that enhance the overall mood. The lyrics, steeped in themes of nature, mythology, and existential dread, draw listeners into a lyrical landscape that feels both personal and universal. "HAG's" ability to weave storytelling into their music adds depth, making each track resonate on multiple levels.

As the album progresses, “Over Stormskapte Fjell” maintains a captivating flow, alternating between intense tracks and more introspective moments. “Om Vinteren Banker Tankene Som Hagl” offers a brief respite with its slower tempo and melancholic melodies, demonstrating the band’s versatility, then rips back up to a blistering pace. Watch out, or else youll get steamrolled!  This track is rich in emotional depth, allowing listeners to absorb the weight of the preceding chaos before plunging back into the storm. The production on this album is noteworthy, striking a balance between rawness and clarity. The instrumentation is crisp. The drums are particularly impressive, combining speed and precision. A driving force that propels the music forward.

In conclusion, “Over Stormskapte Fjell” is a remarkable addition to "HAG's" discography and a compelling addition  to their artistry. With its blend of atmospheric elements, powerful instrumentation, and evocative lyrics, the album stands out in the contemporary black metal landscape. "HAG" successfully captures the essence of the genre while infusing it with their unique vision, making this album a must-listen for fans of atmospheric black metal. It is an immersive journey that leaves a lasting impression.
