The album has twelve songs. The short “Intro” leads into “The Seer,” which is an ocean full of life, energy, intensity, and even some melody. You can immediately tell that this band is seasoned and talented. It slows, and expands into clean vocal harmonies before hitting the throttle again. “Tornet” is very aggressive…the kind of song that reaches out and grabs you by the balls and squeezes. This is a true amalgam of many styles of Metal…Thrash, Black, Death, and even MeloDeath. “Before the Crows Have Their Feast” begins with meaty bass notes followed by a harrowing riff. Clean vocals and even some piano notes are peppered into the deadly sound, showcasing the band’s songwriting prowess.

“An Ancient Ancestor of the Autumn Moon” has that expansive and outerworld quality that one might expect given the title. At times, it is somber and melancholy, while other times very contentious, but always thick and rich. “Black Angel” has a steady, almost bouncy rhythm that is fueled by thrashy riffs and aggressive vocals. The clean harmonized vocals in the chorus bring a totally different element to the table, and it makes both the heavy end heavier and the melancholy end even more sad. “Barren Paths” is a shorter instrumental reprieve from the earlier madness, gearing up for the final three songs. “The Serpent’s Kiss” features some very aggressive drumming that is so fast and dexterous, it doesn’t even seem possible. Clean vocals wash out the bitter taste of the deadly Black Metal and cleanse the palate.

“Det Svarta” has a storytelling quality, although I can’t quite make out what it is about. The riffs move very fast, and it beats you over the head with its thickness. “Age of Fire” closes the album, and it’s a bombastic ending to a thrilling ride. The band is still firing on all cylinders this far into the album. “Fasomas Tid” is a genre-bending album that stays in the Extreme category, effortlessly mixing the best of what that has to offer fans, but also throws in some surprises in the form of clean vocals and even some melody. The result is an album that is very well rounded.
