Destination Paradise
Desert Sin
The last time I had the pleasure of listening to this band's material was nearly three years ago. The Austrian DESERT SIN's debut, and previous, album, "The Edge Of Horizon" is an Epic Heavy / Power Metal masterpiece that was written without any sort of attempts to come forward with new musical aspects and current trends. It sounded very natural with its enticing atmosphere. However, you aren't reading this to walk with me in my memory lain aren't you? Therefore I will present you the band's new album, "Destination Paradise", once again released by Pure Steel Records.
Whether if you had the chance to listen to their last album, or not, let me tell you that DESERT SIN haven't really stirred from their Metal making path. The same atmosphere remained along with the same kind of production. Nevertheless, "Destination Paradise" didn't pinch me as I expected when I first laid my ears on it. The fact that the band once again decided to remain in their own scenery of melodic Metal didn't fail them in comparison to the past because DESERT SIN has a touch of grace in their music. What happened here is very simple, some people call it "you lose some, you win some". DESERT SIN were fortunate to come up with the wild brainstorming of the last album but on this current one they weren't able to reach the same level. On the other hand, "Destination Paradise" didn't accede to deterioration or the admitting of defeat.
Similar to my last encounter with the band's material, the album opened with a storm that slowly began rumbling in the nice soft intro. The self-titled track of "Destination Paradise" kept my hopes up for another magical journey in the desert. The song's C part its development are amazing and aside from the chorus, which is a winner, elevated the theatrical like experience. "Seeds Of Destruction", rather different from the latter, embraced the symbolism of harsher Speed / Power with a tough course. "Kill The King", though a bit melodic than the former, maintained the same tougher line that provided the energies. "In Silence" sounded as if it driven by Progressive Metal kind that crossed my mind with FATES WARNNING and QUEENSRYCH for some reason, yet it has a wonderful edge on his chorus, especially with the harmony amidst the lead vocals, guitars and keyboards, a worthy track to check out and enjoy.
Though I wasn't frankly amazed by this album as its previous brother, I think that it is a good and an honest work by DESERT SIN that once again provided stories to tell.
