Immortal Flame
Dawn Of Valor
Is it the quest for immortality or for true Metal? Well the former is rather hard to find unless you believe everything they show you on the Highlander movies and series. Nonetheless, and I take it that you will leave the immortality issue only as a source that came from legends, the latter is something that I think that has been going on for decades.
MANOWAR, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, HELLOWEEN and other gods of the 80s might be the image of the true thing but there will always be that one that will say otherwise. DAWN OF VALOR, from the USA, aren't on the lookout as their lyrics suggest but they have been busy on playing honest Metal with accordance to the roots of the 80s.
"Immortal Flame" is their second EP after a pretty nice self-titled debut that came out a year ago. Basically, it is no different than the previous. The band always had strong ties to both Euro and American old school Metal, which means strong beats to the side of melodic verses along commanded by convincing solo licks. "Valkyrie Sky" is a great future hit while "There Can Be Only One", the law of the immortal, has a fine edge.
On the other hand, DAWN OF VALOR did made a few changes in personal."Immortal Flame" represents two new members, guitars and vocals, of the band that replaced two of the founders. I can't really judge the new guitarist as I don't really know who recorded the guitars but on the other hand, I can run a few words on the new vocal man, Jaden Adair. He has a good voice filled with depth, sometimes even reminded me of James Hetfield. However, I think that for this kind of music the vocals needs to be more energetic and less laid off as it can be heard here. Though for epic style tracks he would fit like a glove, DAWN OF VALOR's tracks aren't aiming towards this direction. I hope for the further recordings he would try a different approach.
