The short “Intro” leads into “From the Abyss.” It has a sturdy mix of Thrash Metal, Black Metal, and Death Metal, as well as meaty bass notes, and a good deal of darkness. I get some OPETH vibes here also, mostly in the way that they structure snippets of melody. “The Joker” is a bit faster as well as a bit heavier, and I swear that I hear some Progressive elements in their music. They are subtle but support the band’s strong musicianship. The title track goes both deeper and darker into the void. It teeters on the very edge of the precipice, as the gravity threatens to suck it up and swallow it whole.

“The Dragons Burn” has a catchy staccato riff attack along with some dissonant melody, and once again, the stew of various styles they mix together is both personal and unique. This is a very oppressive song. “Blood of Wolves” has a thicker structure from a machine of guitar, bass, and drums that is very well-oiled. Those fat keyboards notes are a surprise, and further the notion that this band knows what the hell they are doing when it comes to songwriting. “Death Becomes the New Day” features more dark and melodic keyboards, and at this point in the album, you must ask yourself, is there anything that the band hasn’t thought of? The riffs change through transitions that you barely notice, and that is the mark of strong compositions.

“Product Human Slave” sounds more straightforward at first, but the chord progressions and use of electronica is fascinating. “Obliterator” closes the album, and it’s a straight up burner from start to finish. First, consider the fact that this music was composed and performed by one person, and consider his unusual and intelligent approach to songwriting. Next, consider the way he flawlessly combines several genres of Metal. Last, consider that all of this is wrapped up into a sound that can blast through you windows at break-neck speed and leave your home smoldering from the flames, and that is exactly what makes it such a vital album.
