It's been six years since Vain released the album “Rolling With The Punches”. Hitting the hard rock scene in 1989 with their debut album “No Respect”, with the lead single “Beat The Bullet”, they were all over magazine covers, on MTV with posters all over girl's bedroom walls. ”No Respect” is often refereed to as one of the most underrated albums of all time. Having released seven albums with different incarnations of Vain (One of which is a Davy Vain solo album),they have dabbled in 80's hard rock,70's big groove and also 60's psychedelia coming round full circle to the hard rock 2011 release “Enough Rope” which shows their versatility without losing their musical backbone or integrity thanks to Davy Vains song writing and distinctive voice.

In 1989 I was 13 years old nearly 14 when “No Respect” was released, having heard “Beat The Bullet” I bought the album, that was it I was hooked what a great album, what a band, what a voice Davy Vain had (still has),they were cool , had attitude and they sounded great. I was also fortunate to see them live, they didn't disappoint neither so good. So “Disintegrate Together” was available to be reviewed I just had to revisit Vain to see if they still had that magic touch. ”Cold Like Snow” the leading single kicks in and wow that distinctive voice is still as good as it was, some gritty sleazy guitar riffs, the big bassline, hard hitting chorus classic  Vain, ”Don't You Think” has swagger, charisma, catchy ,infectious melodies with hypnotising vocals. ”You Better Keep Your Eye On That Girl” has pretty much the same vibe, sleazy glam metal with some pop injection. ”The Flower” more mellow ,catchy bassline ,powerful in the chorus, with another fantastic guitar solo. ”Holding On For Love” is vintage Vain in every way its raw, sleazy sound & energy with some great hooks ,while “Can't You See Me Floating” has a different feel ,it has a lighter more pop/rock sound referring to the sunset strip within the lyrics but still sounding distinctive. ”Back In 89” big bassline, with some fantastic guitar twists & turns with a psychedelic feel, ”KC Swinger” is as simple as it gets, a straight forward sleazy ,glam track superb. ”Pictures Of You In Red” has a lot of melody changes within the the track musically ,but definitely packs a punch ,exploding into life in the chorus. The last track on the album the tile track is a slower track its moody. atmospheric with a trippy element which ends this album perfectly.

Disintegrate Together” is a fantastic album vocally, musically with some great song writing and production. Vain still sound as good as they did back in 1989 , they still sound as cool in 2024 that distinctive Vain sound still sounds current, relatable 35 years later. Davy Vain still has that great distinctive ,hypnotizing voice too, he still sounds great 35 years later, personally I think one of the best voices in hard rock. Definitely a great album ,highly recommended, will be one of my top albums of 2024,
