Steel Panther - Balls Out album cover

STEINMETAL (9/10)

I don't think that there is something funnier and absolutely frickin' hilarious in Metal music than the foursome crew of STEEL PANTHER. While girls and having Sex, in various ways and displays, are their main themes, these veteran dudes that have already acted by their themes tons of times have been contributing to the awesomeness of Hard Rock and Glam Metal. I wonder if Steven Tyler or Axel Rose could have or would have done the same nowadays, well the chances of that ain't too high considering...

After putting quite a show with outstanding debut of "Feel The Steel", an album that even with its x-rated nonsense displayed high quality music, STEEL PANTHER continue their quest on becoming the best in the business with their second "Balls Out". Frankly, who really needs to be serious when you are playing tough and amazing easy to listen music while creating havoc with the undying power of sex and babes? Where there is STEEL PANTHER there are the sounds of the gods of the genre such as KISS, MOTLEY CRUE, AEROSMITH, GUNS N' ROSES, DEF LEPPARD, POISON and RATT among others. The party was greatly enhanced by the high quality production made by Jay Ruston that also produced with finesse the debut album.

Probably one of the prominent qualities of the songs on "Balls Out" is that on the outside they sound serious. I can exemplify my opinion with the sweet power ballads of "Weenie Ride", "If You Really Really Love Me" and "Why Can't You Trust" that presented musical elements that even the 80s didn't possess and I am not talking about the lyrics. STEEL PANTHER, other than being true to the good old roots and to what Sleazy Glam truly means, has this vibe that is so attractive and commanding.

That same special vibe, which I can't name or make out, brought me to endorse and memorize some soon to become major league tunes. "Tomorrow Night", other than its great theme that made think of bachelor and frat house parties, bought me over with its riffs and singing rhythms. "Weenie Ride", the absolute hard sex machine, was one of the funniest and amazing to listen ballads I ever heard. "Let Me Cum In" and "Gold Digging Whore" is what a sex maniac is all about, how sleazy can a sex addict get? Guess when it comes to STEEL PANTHER if it comes along with good Hard Rock and Metal, there is always a piece of ass out there for the fun.

The list didn't end up there. There is more for everyone to pick and peak. "Balls Out" is a legacy coming to shove its behind on your faces so head on and taste it.

DANGER KITTY, METAL SHOP, METAL SKOOL, or STEEL PANTHER, each one of the names will hint the same band that will leave you speechless with their nasty lyrics and uncompromised Glam Metal music. One thing is certain, after their debut "Feel The Steel" I couldn't believe how they were able to compose such dirtier lyrics, well I guess I was too skeptic as they rose above themselves. So I will try to put aside the foul humor and concentrate on the music.

With a tribute song for the famous golfer Tiger Woods, "Just Like Tiger Woods", I was hooked right from the start, it was like an 80s anthem, a song which is not only rocking to the bone but it delivered a chorus that will be glued to your head along with incredible guitar work. "17 Girls In A Row", which is considered as their hit single. This one displays taste of VAN HALEN, in fact I have always claimed that Michael Starr is David Lee Roth's twin brother when it comes to their voices.

I never thought that STEEL PANTHER is a band of good heartbreaking ballads but in the song "If You Really Want Me" they combined between the hard and soft of Rock and did it right. It's about time to praise Stachel on his great guitar work especially on the song "It Won't Suck Itself", which shows his fast drive playing in a song that follows the vein of EXTREME. The lead guitar solo is amazing just like in the old days when guitar players were justly called guitar heroes. What I love about STEEL PANTHER is that everything is done by the book of Glam Metal, you can't be wrong here. This is where you will know what you are going to get whether the hilarious and offensive lyrics are there or not. STEEL PANTHER is not a band that will surrender to the trends of the new age, they are a long period guarantee.

Michael Starr has the ability to turn each song into a masterpiece with his amazing voice like on the ballad "Why Can't You Trust Me". He continued to excite on hard rocking energetic songs such as "That's What Girls Are For", which is so simple with its guitar riffs yet each riff is a massive shot of Hard Rock that surly can be a stadium anthem. If you were looking for the Heavy in the Hard, you will get it on "Gold-Digging Whore" that reminded a little bit of the classic DOKKEN years. This track fits a drive on your Harley in the open air. "Critter" is one of most perfect of the tracklist. It starts with a bombastic opening; the solo part has high ends that will drive you for an air guitar and the so catchy chorus that will make you sing along with them.Starr as usual goes up high pitch with his voice while challenging his limits.

To sum up, if you were looking for 80s Glam Metal in 2011 that will shake you down, it's on the "Balls Out" album. It will leave you speechless, astonished, banging your head, feeling the steel and with your balls out.

Looking for love, maybe a little bit of romance and some heart-melt melodies and lyrics that will bring cupid down to earth? You want to cry out for your loved one how much you adore him/her and then go walking down the sunset? Shit, you have serious issues and the CD you are holding will surely straighten you up. Yeah, STEELPANTHER isn't that kind of band that hits around the bush. Actually, I have to say that they can't be more vulgar, raw and shamelessly filthy. By the album's title "Balls out", you can't be so naive and expect to listen to songs like "Itsy Bitsy Spider" or "Little Bunny Foofoo". Here we have tracks mainly around Sex, gang bangs, baby gravy, bad case of STD's, hookers, drugs, tits, chicks and vagina. Got the point yet?

Continuing to use the successful formula of their first album "Feel the Steel" which is nothing else but outrageous "hair" Glam Metal / Rock, STEEL PANTHER present a pure outperformance of themselves. Picking up where they left off, STEEL PANTHER brings back the very best of the 80s, with twice the fun minus the guilt. Just take all the pros from MOTLEY CRUE, DOKKEN, DEF LEPPARD, AEROSMITH, RATT, BON JOVI and many other groups and add one more: lack of censorship!!! How much better can it get than this? Although each and every of the fourteen tracks is of the infamous STEEL PANTHER quality, there are some that really blew me away; "It Won't Suck Itself" with NICKELBACK's vocalist Chad Kroeger (!) and EXTREME's guitarist Nuno Bettencourt as guests , the bitchin "What Girls Are For"  and "Why can't you trust me" for inspiring  lyrics such "that's what girls are for: sewing, cooking, being good looking " and "stop threatening the bitches on my Facebook page or I'm gonna rip your head off in a cocaine rage ", the catchy "Gold-Digging Whore" that makes you wanna scream the chorus G-O-L-D D-I-G-G-I-N-G W-H-O-R-E along with the rest of the band and ,last but not least, the ballad "Weenie Ride" that will surely be a perfect choice for your first dance on your wedding day!

It's really hard to be seriously funny or funnily serious but for STEEL PANTHER that is a piece of cake. "Balls Out", like its predecessor, is (NOT) Recommended for prudes, girls and boys that still have their "cherry" (do they exist or have they gone extinct along with the dinosaurs?) and tight-ass dudes/bitches (maybe nuns too!).
