Cult of the Dead

Miruthan

This was a promising debut EP for the Black Metal band out of Australia. They should be proud, and I am looking forward to what they have to offer next. Keep these guys on your radar for sure.

MIRUTHAN is a Melodic Black/Death Metal band originally formed in Australia fairly recently, although The Metal Archives didn’t have much information about them. They look like they have seven members, but are masked, and their line-up is listed as anonymous. They deal with themes of folklore, horror, and darkness. I believe this album is the band’s debut release, an EP with four songs. “Land of the Damned” is first. The opening tones and dark, evil, and ominous, and the vocal screams are suitably thick. The really drive the song down your throat with a massive and expansive sound, for me, like they swallowed the entire record store. “Survived the Blast” is slower and deliberate, and the vocals are done with a screaming voice that echoes the primary one, further thickening the sound. “At the Barricades” is another slower offering with plenty of ominous tones in the background, and I love the meaty bass notes. Evil builds like a sickness that slowly overtakes the listener. There are even some light symphonic elements towards the end.

“Into the Abyss” closes the album, and that is what it feels like to me…a portal opening up beneath my feet that is full of fire and brimstone, and a voice beckons me in. I take the step, and it’s as of a whole new world opened for me. Unfortunately, it’s a world of torture, and it’s too late to turn back. Overall, this was a promising debut EP for the Black Metal band out of Australia. They should be proud, and I am looking forward to what they have to offer next. Keep these guys on your radar for sure.
