The album has ten songs, and “Neptunian Genesis” is first. The music is dissonant, but unlike a lot of Black Metal. The vocals are right in line, but the music moves with the beat of a different drummer. “Samvega – Nekkhamma” has some definite Post Punk elements and the bass is thick and pronounced. The mash-up of styles is also interesting, and it keeps the listener engaged as to what might be coming next. “Twilight Draws Nigh” uses darker elements in the songwriting. The main riff is almost jovial, and meaty bass notes place nicely with the riff, while the vocals are vile and filthy.

“All Torn Apart” has a swing to it, which is unusual to speak for this type of music. The melding of the music and the vocals is stark here, and the clean vocals provide melancholy feelings. “In Sacred Magic” is a shorter song, still with a bit of a swing, although again the vocals are very grating. The cleans in the chorus are unexpected to me, but also oddly pleasing. “Moonwise Journey” drips with heavy emotional elements and again, the bass is very pronounced. It makes me appreciate what it can offer to the album. The clean vocals are just raspy whispers, and both anger and regret are reflected in the music.

“Black Hole District” has a lively riff but the song is stuck in the muck of a deep depression. The combination of clean and harsh vocals in the chorus puts a further stamp on this feeling as well. “Infinity of the Elements” is the closer, and the jovial guitar riff buts heads with the vocals something fierce. The music almost seems to flow without hitting any bumps, but there is also a good deal of darkness present. Overall, I found this wonderfully depressing album to be bold, and full of character and surprises. It’s a mash of a few different styles, and would appeal to anyone who likes their music a bit off the beaten path.
