Suicide Silence - The Black Crown album cover

With their second full length release Suicide Silence are trying to establish themselves among the endless map of myriads of deathcore bands and they seem achieving it in a very precise and neat way.

Although "The Black Crown" is in many occasions more melodic than their first release, it sounds well-structured but unfortunately without something new to contribute to the genre.

From the opening riff of "Slaves to Substance" you can realize the strength and the temper that will soon follow. Frankly the rest of the songs are able to make you wanna bang your head like nuts and mosh endlessly but there's nothing really innovative in its wholeness. There are rough and aggressive tunes but they sound really common to my ears like I have heard them a thousand times before.

Bands like Suicide Silence and like others should give new breath to this continually growing genre instead of paving on the same and safe path, daring to try new stuff. Time will only tell...
