Karma  To Burn, or K2B as fans use to call them, returned to the well known paths of desert/stoner metal with the album 'V', five in Roman numerals. Recorded in Dave Grohl's studio 606 in L.A. 'V' is K2B's fifth album, since their 'birth' back in 1997 and after a seven year break up from 2002 to 2009.

The truth is that Karma To Burn is a band which you have to watch live to feel the energy that this band possess. And I am mentioning it because this is exactly how it worked with me when I first heard their previous album "Appalachian Incantation" .The album created mellow feelings about it but when I saw the band performing it live I was astonished. The feeling they bring on the stage is totally unbelievable. Explosions of energy, power and heavy sounds.

With "Appalachian Incantation" marking a successfully reunion,'V' ,containing eight tracks five instrumental -band's well know formula- and three with vocals, puts another brick in the creative development on the part of the band. Mentioning that K2B did not only reunited after 7 lost years, but  is also determined to keep on rolling in music industry.

'47','50', '48', '49'and '51' are the five instrumentals . Heavy ball-breaking rock but also groovy songs which can easily get stuck in your head. Full of dirty and sludgy sounds, pretty technical but on the other hand delicious to the ear since they can be accessible to a wide audience.

'The Cynic' and 'Jimmy Dean' are two of the three songs with vocals in this album. Vocals are by Daniel Davies from Year Long Disaster. Although 'Karma To Burn'  is traditionally an instrumental stoner band, decided to include 3 non-instrumental songs in this album. In the beginning of its career , must be mentioned , that the band's denial to include a singer in their line-up, led Roadrunner records to break its contract. Daniel's vocals seem like they drive K2B songs on a higher level. A bit twisted vocals but so nicely fitted with these redundant tunes.

Karma To Burn decided to close this new album with a cover song. I guess Black Sabbath's 'Never Say Die' was not a difficult decision for the band, since most of its guitar riffs sound quite 'Sabbathian'. A faithful cover, with an excellent job from Daniel Davies on vocals .

To sum up, 'V' is a solid album which I suggest to everyone. The one's who already know Karma To Burn will certainly like this one as well as the previous ones, since it is a typical K2B album strong and dirty. The one's who will listen to K2B for the first time, but like stoner metal scene, will find it very interesting and will take a look on the earlier band's work. As for the ones who have never listened to stoner metal maybe after listening to this one, they will give a chance to this genre to take its special place in their hearts.

And if you ever get informed that this band is visiting your town for a live performance, I suggest you not to miss it. It will be for granted a wonderful experience.
