The Oculus
Inevitable End

Inevitable End is a quartet from Jönkoping of Sweden, formed in 2003 which was influenced by thrash metal. As years went by they set their roots on the death metal genre. The band has released two demos, Inevitable End in 2004 and Reversal in 2006. Each one of them included three songs. After these two demos they moved to Gothenburg, signed with Relapse Records and recorded their first full-length album The Severed Inception. The Oculus is their second full-length album.
Inevitable End released an extremely energetic and very interesting album, which includes a lot of subgenres. Gore, deathgrind, mathcore are some genres which can be recognised. Seems like they had so many ideas and they wanted to show them all in one album. Either they wanted to impress and earn the attention of fans of more genres, and not only death metal ones, or they had so much of an enthusiasm to let people know. But all these don't keep this album from being a good and interesting one.
It certainly reminds a lot of early The Dillinger Escape Plan and Sikth. A blasting album with a great range in vocals, catchy and at some points extended guitar riffs, oldschool hardcore bass lines, plonking pianos and some undefined random noises The Oculus is not easy to 'swallow'. If you are not much into death metal you will probably find it tiring, confusing or prattled. Death metal fans I believe will give it the chance to convince them they have to pay a bit more attention to it.
These musicians are surely four talented guys with lots of ideas and great skills and I am looking forward to listen to their next album. I will keep on listening to this one because every minute that passes while I am listening to it makes me liking it even more.
