SONS OF SEASONS are a German Symphonic Metal band formed by KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai. "Magnisphyricon" is the band's second album and it kept the mood of the debut, but with a more aggressive sound and music.

The album started with "Magnisphyricon: Temperance", a great atmospheric intro that lead right into "Bubonic Waltz" a very KAMELOT like sounding song. Even Henning Basse's vocals sounded very similar to Roy Khan's. After hearing this song, my only thought was that Oliver must be more involved in the composing process in KAMELOT because this album sounded just like what I expected from KAMELOT in their last album and sadly they didn't answered.

The album continued in the same dark and epic vibe till "Sanctuary", a song which has an amazing vocal appearance by Simone Simons from EPICA. Don't forget that she is also Oliver's girlfriend. This song is the most interesting one on the album, in my opinion, with a very progressive vibe and a mix of good and evil, the sweet sounding voice of Simone versus the evil of Basse.

The album was well produced and the material was very well built. The only thing that bothered me was that this band sounded a bit too much likeKAMELOT and that can be a terrible thing especially if the keyboard player plays on the two bands. However, I definitely think that he shined on SONS OF SEASONS more than in KAMELOT.This is the place to give a good word to the other players on the album that did an amazing work.

In conclusion, this is a good album.KAMELOT fans will definitely enjoy it. But I think that on the next album this band will need to take some time to consider and take a more unique direction.
