Karma

Myrath

Catchy, melodic sensibility, unabashed massive hooks, style, and musicianship is what the album offers to the fans. The album has that perfect balance between weight and melody as well. This is the band’s sixth full-length album, and they show zero signs of slowing down.

MYRATH has consistently pushed the boundaries of metal, winning the hearts of fans around the world with their distinctive sound and lyrical depth. With "Karma," their new album out on Feb 2, 2024 on earMUSIC, they are poised to continue their musical journey and captivate audiences in a way only they can. The new album has ten songs. “To the Stars” if first, and out of the gates, you hear a polished and seasoned sound with a rich, full backing, and charming vocal harmonies. The music is quite catchy, but also has a strong backbone. “Into the Light” is next, and it’s another super catchy song with big hooks, especially in the chorus. I have to say that Zaher’s vocals are among the best that I have heard this year, and Elyes’s piano and keyboards are the perfect accompaniment to the music. “Let it Go” is a bit more tender, but still with a lot of punch from the band, and they can turn it on and up at will, or back off and let the sound develop. The symphonic elements are also perfectly placed, and don’t take over the sound.

“Words are Falling” is another bombast of sound with their unique flair of Middle Eastern elements, and vocalist Zaher impresses me once again with his performance. The tender teases are only bested by the hardened but melodic backbone of their music. “The Wheels of Time” begins with a funky little groove from the bass guitar and vocals, and segues into another big melodic bomb in the chorus, which is full of glittering harmonies that they band does so well. “Child of Prophecy” is a slower song that takes time to develop into its massive emotional impact. It has a dark side to it, almost like a doppelganger that saunters in when you are not looking. But again, the chorus is where they drive the sound home.

“The Empire” has a heavy, monumental sound out of the gates with plenty of symphonic elements in tow. It races through dark, cloudy skies but comes out clean in the sun on the other side. “Carry On” closes the album. It’s final reminder to push through your problems and maintain a sense of dignity in the face of troubles. If this positive sound doesn’t energize you, you may want to check your pulse to see if you are still breathing. Catchy, melodic sensibility, unabashed massive hooks, style, and musicianship is what the album offers to the fans. The album has that perfect balance between weight and melody as well. This is the band’s sixth full-length album, and they show zero signs of slowing down.
