Just to check in that they are alive in 2010, the Swedish diverse group VERITATE unchained a new single named "The Chosen One" under their current label, Killer Metal Records. If you don't know VERITATE, you will be inflamed by their sense of diversity between classic Heavy, Thrash and Doom Metal. Although their means are more modern than your usual old school figure, these guys have a lot to offer. The "The Chosen One" track is only a small taste of their current state and they are meant to be doing in the future.

When I heard this one closely, I noticed a close similarity to Rob Halford's HALFORD band, mostly to his debut album "Resurrection". Even though the style is similar, as also there are a few reminders of the same type of production, VERITATE's style seem to be somewhat creepier. "The Chosen One" offers a cool display of solos, heavy rhythms and an amazing set of vocals by the band's killer Niklas Olausson, which - like VERITATE - have a lot in common with Halford himself. As the song progresses, on its 3:27 minutes, you can actually feel the change of seasons within the band's approach and that is why I think that this group has tons of potential. This single release may consist only of a single track (along with a Swedish version of it but it doesn't count), yet it left a taste for more.
