Revolutionist

Drip Fed Empire

This was a good album in terms of the band melding many modern elements into their sound. It’s one possible direction in the Metal scene today, and the band performs their brand of music with confidence, and direction. Some fans might find the heavy electronic sound to be inauthentic, but I liked it. It made the album sound full, and rich.

From their EPK, “Bringing together a wealth of influences drawing from Metalcore and Industrial, through to Nu-Metal, DRIP FED EMPIRE have already racked up glowing comparisons to everyone from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, ENTER SHIKARI, and BRING ME THE HORIZON. Expressing a style and phrasing that are uniquely their own, DRIP FED EMPIRE are a group with a political voice and strong social conscience, and this is depicted through their deeply engaging lyrical themes and messages.” The album has eight songs.

“Wandering Soul” is a short intro piece, setting the stage for “Give Me More.” The song combines several genres as advertised…Industrial, Core, and Nu. The result is a rich sound that has slightly more aggressive element than melodic ones. “MK4” has some Hardcore elements, especially in the vocal cadence, and there are plenty of electronic sounds. It makes the music sound more modern. “The Work of God” has another distinct vocal cadence, and they are almost rapped at times in their shouts. Although I am not really a fan of this type of Metal, the band are at least honest performers.

“Digital Drug” has another heavy dose of electronica in the sound. The riffs could benefit from some more experimentation, rather than relying on open notes, but both the bass and keys provide a nice supporting sound. “systemrest” is the first song with some diversity. It sort of sounds like you wandered into a dream, where there is an announcement that is trying to be calming, but the message is dreadful. “Arcane” has opening tones that are heavy, aggressive, and tinged with electronics. There are some clean vocal melodies in the chorus, but the verses are heavily cadenced. Indeed, I do hear elements of both Core and Nu.

“Invaders” closes the album. It has filthy, monumental tones, still with a heavy dose of electronica. That interlude is also bossy, and for me, this is the best and most complete song on the album. Overall, this was a good album in terms of the band melding many modern elements into their sound. It’s one possible direction in the Metal scene today, and the band performs their brand of music with confidence, and direction. Some fans might find the heavy electronic sound to be inauthentic, but I liked it. It made the album sound full, and rich.
