PANZERCHRIST: To release new album "Last Of A Kind" in July
May 4, 2023
There are only a few bands in the metal scene who can be considered pioneers, true groundbreakers and leaders of musical movements. When, in 1996, PANZERCHRIST introduced a blackened kind of death metal into Scandinavia, with the debut album "Six Seconds Kill", they carved their name among the style pioneers in Europe, alongside Vader and Bolt Thrower.
On the course of the following years, the Danish collective left their mark with hand a dozen relentless albums that left no enemy standing and gained countless troops into their ranks, including enthusiastic members from the press. Unfortunately, Panzerchrist were also plagued by lineup bumps, which left the band silent for a decade after "7th Offensive", released in 2013.
The new album "Last Of A Kind", recorded at Antfarm Studios and produced by Tue Madsen, solves both these problems - the silence in the Panzerchrist camp and the lineup instability - by adding a renewed blood with experience in the scene and enough bloodshed in their minds to make an album worth of the Danes' name! And then some. The fury, tightness and fastness that are Panzerchrist's soul are here, untouched and crowned by a renewed sense of evilness, embodied by Sonja Rosenlund Ahl vicious vocals. Yes sir, Panzerchrist is back, but it's not just back: it's back with a vengeance and an insane amount of interests in regards of the one-year debt they owe us!
"Last Of A Kind" will be released on CD, LP (180gr black vinyl, limited to 500 copies) and digital formats via Emanzipation Productions on July 27th, 2023. Pre-orders available here.
The first digital single from the album, titled "Sabbath Of The Rat", is already out. Check it out here.
In the early 2000s, with two albums in their discography, PANZERCHRIST was on the way to becoming the biggest name in the Danish death metal scene. But they needed a flawless fourth studio record to make that happen and cement their name at the top of the chain food. Enter "Room Service"! Recorded in Antfarm Studios with Tue Madsen at the console, the Danes produced an amazing set of death metal songs that would serve as an introduction to the genre for a whole new generation. On top of Bo Summer's (Illdisposed) trademark ultra-brutal vocal attack, Rasmus Henriksen (Illdisposed actual guitar player) was recruited to set the rhythm for soloist Frederik O'Carroll, while Exmortem's immensely talented drummer Reno Hilligsø "Killerich" Killerich was setting the pulse, together with bassist and Panzerchrist visionnaire Michael Enevoldsen, aka Panzergeneral. Now, this brutal death metal classic gets a vinyl release for the first time, on valuable 180-gram black vinyl, limited to 300 copies. The sound was also completely remastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios.
"Room Service" will be re-released on LP (180gr black vinyl, limited to 300) via Emanzipation Productions on July 27th, 2023. Pre-orders available here.
Panzerchrist was formed in 1993 by Michael Enevoldsen, which by that time was leaving his role as Illdisposed drummer. Precise as a clock, the band released their first two albums every three years- in 1996 and 1999 ' until they hit gold with a record deal signed with Mighty Music and two of their most successful albums ever: "Soul Collector" in 2000 and "Room Service" in 2003.
Amidst a constant lineup change (which saw Enevoldsen himself switch from drums to keyboards and later to bass) and which transformed Panzerchrist in a global stage for the best musicians in the Danish metal scene, the band released their fifth opus, "Batallion Beast", in 2006, before singing to French label Listenable Records, with which they released the latest two studio albums.
In the Autumn of 2021, the band re-released the cult album "Soul Collector" on CD and ' for the first time ever ' on vinyl, in a limited collectors edition. Three different vinyls colours ' red, yellow and black ' each limited to 100 units. The sound was remastered at Angioni Studios.
In early 2023, the band welcomed back guitar player Frederik O'Carroll (he was in the band between 2002 and 2006) and presented a new vocalist: Sonja Rosenlund Ahl (Arsenic Addict). Later the new axeman Danny Bo Pedersen (Arsenic Addict) and the drummer Danni Jelsgaard (Detest, Vansind) were also added to the fold, making up for the strongest Panzerchrist lineup in over a decade and making the band ready for a new era of evil brutality.
