EARTH is one of those weird cases. It is one of those bands that can hypnotize you with its slow and almost occult sound and bring forth your deepest fears. The USA based metallers probably have the most "suffocating" music I have ever happened to listen to, since every time I listen to their tunes it is like I can't breathe.

"A Bureaucratic Desire For Extra-Capsular Extraction" is, as the band says, the album that has never been heard in its entirety, as it was meant to be. "Here is the first EARTH recorded full-length, before time, theft, and EARTH 2 changed things."
What the band actually means in the above statement is that the masters of a release that would become EARTH 2 were stolen from Smegma Studios where the band was recording, by the time Joe Preston left MELVINS. Anyway, that's not the point here.

This best of compilation is as I said above the album as it was meant to be. EARTH, with its slow and claustrophobic Drone/Doom Metal sound prove what they discovered in music, and how early they managed to do it. Gathering elements from the early Industrial Metal and Post/Drone bands like GODFLESH, the US act made a huge step forward, introducing an extremely fuzzy, feedback drenched, muddy and totally wicked sound. Yes, this release should not only be remembered for the contribution of NIRVANA's Kurt Cobain in "A Bureaucratic Desire For Revenge", but for the foundations of an entire music genre that gave birth to bands like SUN O))), BORIS, KHANATE and many more.

I believe this is a must have for every fan of the Drone/Doom Metal scene, something like a historical evidence of what was. Believe me, it will be like listening to this band for the first time with this early and primitive sound.
