When I took this album in my hands I wasn't that impressed by the artwork. I didn't like the cover at all and generally found the whole layout very amateurish. What impressed me was the fact that Phil Vincent created this album on his own with a little help from others, but really this is pretty astonishing.
Phil's first album "Rising" was released in 1996 and since then he has released another 9 solo albums and now "Controlled Insanity" is his 10th one. He has also other 3 albums with TRAGIK, a band that consists of Damian D'Ercole on guitars and bass, Dirk Philips on drums and Phil Vincent on guitars, keys and vocals. To end this part I also have to mention that he also has another album with another band called CIRCULAR LOGIC in which he plays guitars and keys and he sings.
"Controlled Insanity" is a definitely enjoyable album. As I said before when I first took it in my hands I wasn't impressed at all, but when I listened to it I changed my mind. There are some songs that stuck in my mind like "Why?", "Carry On", "Part Of Me" and "Should Have Known Better" but generally there wasn't a single song that I would say is boring or something. As far as I'm concerned Phil hasn't released a below-good album and this one continues his sequence of good works.
To sum up, "Controlled Insanity" is a pretty nice melodic Hard Rock album and if you're into this stuff you should definitely listen to it.
